Here's my story. I am a mom of 2 wonderful kids and will be a Grandma in May 2015. My daughter is 21, and my son is 16. I am 39, now, and happily married for 15 years. My best friend Is my mom. I actually have been gaining weight since I got pregnant with my daughter. I was only 16 when I was pregnant so I ate everything possible and did not think about gaining weight because you was supposed to. Not even my doctor was concerned about me gaining. So I went form a 125 to 175 very quickly. I did manage to get back down to 150 after giving birth. For years I stayed there. Then I decided to try the depo shot, BIG mistake. From 150 to 190 in a matter of 6 months! That’s crazy! I blew up like a balloon! I had enough and went off the shot and got pregnant right away. Here I go again, so I thought. I did gain, but not as bad. I got to 220. Had my son and could not lose the weight. Here starts all the diets. For 8 years I tried everything. Everything you all have probably tried. As I lost on them I would gain even more. Finally I got to my highest weight at 248. Yuck. I seen an ad in the newspaper about a couple that had the lapband. I started my research. I decided that this is what I want and I need. I did go my 12 month doctors visits, which later found out only needed 6 months. Got a surgeon to send in all my work to BCBS of IL, and behold I was DENIED! What? Sure enough, they said I lack info and that I was short of being 5 years over weight because of a diet I went on and lost some weight, but did not show the gain till much afterwards. Whatever. My loving husband would not give up and called in to a few places and I was approved for a loan. I found a different surgeon in Detroit, Dr Webber. I love, love, love him. I paid 12000. for surgery. Not bad price for changing my life for the better. And now starts my band story....
