4 weeks post-op

Apr 12, 2011

So it has been four weeks since surgery.  It's been quite a learning experience.  So far I've lost 20 pounds since surgery, but in total I've lost 41 pounds since January.

I'm down to a size 16 now which is great!  I just joined the gym and started attending this past Saturday.

Anxious

Feb 23, 2011

I have officially completed my 3 month regimen that Aetna requires.  I have no idea if my paperwork has been submitted to Aetna.  Left the medical office a message inquiring if my paperwork has been submitted, but haven't heard back from them.  I just want to be approved and given a surgery date.

Back on the road for WLS

Nov 23, 2010

I love seeing and reading about so many people have success after WLS.  I can geniunly say I am very happy for them.  I joined back in early 2009 and now I'm back BABY!!! Hopefully this time I will get surgery.

I began my 3 month process that is required by Aetna.  I am really excited and so ready for this.  Shockingly I did stop smoking about 2 weeks ago.  The urge hasn't gone away, but I'm trying my hardest.  I am not even taking any supplements for it.  We shall see how it goes.

Hopefully time flies and it's soon time for my surgery.  With the holidays coming up, it should help.

How long should you be smoke free b4 surgery?

Feb 23, 2009

I'm at the beginning of my process.  I'm getting tests done, going to pyschological evaluation and a nutrionist appointment soon.  I also smoke, which is a NO NO.  I'm in the process of quitting and have decreased by smoking by 75% within the past month.  How long should I be smoke free before getting approved for surgery?  I guess my question is, do they test before or after you are approved?

Anxiously awaiting approval for Bariatric Surgery

Feb 23, 2009

I have Aetna POS and it's a 6 month process to see if I get covered for Bariatric Surgery.  A month has gone by and I wish it will go even faster.  I feel as if my life is on hold until I get approved for WLS.

I have attended both the Information and Group Nutritional Sessions.  Next month, I will be having tests done (Upper GI, Abdominal Ultrasound, Cardiac Echo, EKG, Chest XRAY, and Lab tests), have my initial visit with the Surgeon, and a Nutritional evaluation.  Early April, I will have a Psychological Evaluation.  I have to attend a workshop monthly and having weekly weigh-in's.

I know I must be patient, but I'm just anxious to know if I will or will not be approved.  I don't want to go through 6 months of "this and that" and not get approved.  I will be accumulating all these doctor and tests costs, and it will be a waste of money if I don't get approved.

I'm trying to be optimistic...
