March 2008 - after two years of soul searching and researching.. I called to obtain a packet of information to apply for Gastric Bypass from Dr. "Fuzz" Fernandez at WFUBMC in WInston Salem, NC.
April 2008 - Inital Appointment with Dr. Fuzz and agreed on Gastric Bypass. Have received blood work results saying I am H Pylori positive so I am put on 3000 mg of amoxacillin, etc.. to get rid of it in my stomach
June 2008 - had a sleep study to rule out Sleep Apnea. What a miserable sleep experience!! I have restless leg syndrom, but will wait until after surgery to deal with it.
July 2008 - Had appointment with Psych. Dr. Jeff Smith. Really like him and look forward to his assistance through this process
August - Went through 2 Endoscopies. The first one I gagged too much so I had to come back to be put under to complete the process. Results - definitely H Pylori from the biopsy - but nothing else major.
October 2008 - met with Nutritionist for the first time. Approved for Surgery through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NC on 10/28/08
November 2008 - Have my pre-op appointment with Dr. Fuzz on 11/13/08
Nutrition class for Gastric Bypass patients on 11/19/08
Surgery scheduled on 11/25/08 - yes - before thanksgiving. It was that or before X-mas!
** I am currently going through the pre-surgery diet.
