Out of the comfort zone
Mar 18, 2016
It has been a long while since my husband and I have gone out. We have three kids, and our two boys have autism and ADHD. Everything we do is for our three children. Our "date nights" consisted of grocery shopping every other Friday. Tonight we are going to Grand Rapids to see a comedy show. It is so nice to do something different! We always worry about the kids first. They reason I put this surgery off so long. I wanted the kids to be old enough so if some complication arose, I wouldn't leave my husband with three kids on his own. Now that I had the surgery, we are doing stuff together for ourselves. It's great. We used to only treat ourselves to food as a date. I could rationalize that as acceptable. I felt like dinner was a reward. Now we are exploring things that don't involve food, and I love it!

Pain in my side
Mar 14, 2016
My surgery was on February 16th, and I feel amazing. The only problem I have is a pain in my side where the stapler went in. When I bend over, or if my waist line rubs the inscision, I feel a burning stabbing sensation. My insurance company case manger is having me call my surgeon. I noticed it one day after taking a four mile walk, where my pants seems to rub on that tender area. Anyone else experince this four weeks after surgery?
