Band out and Sleeve Scheduled

Feb 28, 2011

Wow it has been a while since I have written. I had my band taken out on Feb. 11th. They wheeled me into the OR at 2:56 pm and the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery at 3:57pm! I had an awesome experience....hardly any pain. The most uncomfortable part was a continued coughing and a scratchy throat from the tube! Got a little car sick because it took us over two hours to get home. I ran in the house the second we got home and threw up and immediately was my old self!

Today is Feb. 28, 2011, my husbands' 35th birthday. I went for my follow-up appt at 845am with Dr. Zane. He said everything was fantastic and wanted to know if I had planned on another surgery or not. I said, absoulutely I want the sleeve. He said he thought it was a great surgery for me and thinks it will be the "golden" surgery in the next five years. He told me he was booked up until May but I could pick anytime after that. I chose June 17th, 2011! The reason I chose this date is because the number 17 is a very lucky number for me. Also my kids will be out of school so it will be easier not having to worry about school. I am sooooo excited I am beyond myself. I told Dr. Zane I am going to try and lose 25 to 30 pounds before my surgery. He said that would be wonderful and make things easier for him. I start going back to the gym tomorrow because he gave me the okay.

1/10/11 REFERRAL and LAPBAND REMOVAL SET- Today was an amazing day for me. I got a call from Diana Jones from the Baratrics Dept at Kaiser. She said she received my referral from my PCP(just went on Friday and it is only Monday).  She got my history and then said she would refer me to South Bay Kaiser which is where the surgeries are preformed and a referral for endoscopy. Within 2 hours the SB Kaiser surgery office of Dr. Belzberg and Dr. Zane was calling. Dr. Zane called me personally and we discussed what I wanted. He scheduled surgery for Feb. 11th to remove this god awful band. I can not wait to get it out once and for all and get my DS. I am going to have to take the OPTIONS classes for 12 weeks starting Feb. 24th but that is ok as it will give me time to heal.
