Top Weight Loss for February!

3/20/06-Back to work and back to normal. Tonight is workout at Curves and I can't wait to go! I went to Curves immediately after work and guess what I saw when I weighed in? A sign by the scales that had my name on it! TOP WEIGHT LOSS FOR FEBRUARY! I was #4! Too Cool! I weighed in and the scale said 254...I gained 3 pounds over spring break! Oh, well......I had fun while it lasted! While I was working out, I noticed another sign on the weight loss wall with my name on it again! TOP WEIGHT LOSS FOR FEBRUARY! I was tickled! That was a nice surprise! Anyways, on to the rings!  Wally drove out to East Texas to look for the rings today, but he didn't find them either. What a guy! I have so many blessings in my life that the rings aren't as important as once thought! We are going this Saturday with my brother Chris's metal detector to try again. We we will try one more time before we give up. It is just too dangerous being on foot near a major highway. Wish us luck!

Spring Break Vacation...Can I stay on my diet?

3/11/06-3/18/06-Vacation to see Grandma in Tennessee! Nice trip and I sticked to my diet pretty good the first half of the week and not so good the second half. I just could not pass up the Memphis BBQ and the treats at the Gatlinburg Aquarium and Knoxville Zoo! Although, we walked for miles at the Zoo and the Aquarium and I even worked out in the Hotel Gym...Maybe I evened out the week! I hope that the scale is kind on Monday! On a sad note, I also lost my wedding and engagement ring on this trip. My stepdaughter got car sick, we pulled over to assist her, and I had been putting on lotion, with my rings on my lap. I jumped out of the car and so did the rings! They are alongside a highway in East Texas! My awesome brother bought a metal detector and braved life and limb to help find it while we were in Tennessee. Unfortunately, he could not find it. I was sad for him because I knew how much he wanted to find them and be my hero! But what he doesn't know is that he is already my hero and I am the luckiest girl on earth to have a brother like him. He drove four hours round trip and spent several hours looking in East Texas for me......What a guy! *smile* Wally and I gave him gas money and a TGI Friday's gift card for his trouble. One good deed requires another!

Dietician Appointment

3/10/06- Today, I am going to see Dr. Davidson's dietician-Julie and Coordinator-Chris for my 3 month presurgery diet plan. This is the start of my 3 month plan and I am so excited! She was very sweet and we discussed nutrition and ways to give my body what it will need after the surgery. I have to start practicing not drinking 30 minutes before and after I eat and chewing my food until it is like applesauce in texture before I swallow! Sounds fun, huh? I then weighed in and their scale showed 249! Their charts show that I have lost 15 pounds! (They are a month behind my initial weight loss effort.)

The 6 week Challenge...RESULTS!

3/1/06- Okay, my official 6 week challenge weight loss is.....drum roll please.....17 pounds with 12 inches lost forever! I am on a roll and feel much better about myself! I am also so PROUD and look forward to hitting that 20 pound mark!

Sleep Study results...

Feb 27, 2006

2/28/06- Dr. Mintz called and notified me that I do have sleep apnea! I don't know how I feel about that either. I am glad that I will have a machine to help me sleep better ( I think) and it will help with my insurance approval process. So , next is the titration fitting. Curves is going great, I go three times a week, and the 6 week challenge ends tonight with a weigh-in and measurements. It has been one of the best things that I have ever done for MYSELF!

My First Sleep Study

2/27/06- I had my sleep study on Friday night and it went fine. I was nervous beforehand, especially with all of the wires and stuff, but I went to sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I was woke up around 6 am and they removed all of the wires and stuff.....no big deal except for the goop in my hair! The goop came out with a shower, so no worries! I will find out the results in 5-10 days.

Hoops to jump through...

2/25/06-I received a letter from Dr. Davidson's office and I was none too happy! They said that I need 5 consecutive years of being morbidly obese and in 2001 I had a 60 pound weight loss that might disqualify me from insurance approval. They asked for more documented weight from other doctors to help with the approval! Lucky for me I have two gyno docs that I have seeen for several years. I will be sending them loa's to request my medical history from the other docs. It lit a fire under me, so I called Aetna to have them clarify the policy and they said that it doesn't have to consecutive, as long as I have been morbidly obese for over 5 years. I have been morbidly obese over 10 years! Also, Dr. Davidson's office wants $50.00 a month to do the Presurgery Doctor Supervised plan. I am not thrilled about that but it is the same price if I went to my PCP and a dietician on my own. At least I have the convenience of seeing both in one appointment

The scale moves!

2/14/06- Happy Valentines Day! I attended my weight management class and lost 14 pounds and 10 3/4 inches in 1 month! Yippee!

My first appointment with Dr. Davidson...

2/10/06- I had my first appt with Dr. Davidson and it went well. I didn't have to wait long and was ushered in by Christy. She weighed me, measured my height, and introduced me to Amy, the lady who deals with insurance and schedules surgery. She asked me several questions about what type of surgery that I want, my insurance, and what I must do to be approved for surgery. I must have a sleep apnea test, a stress test, and a psych exam. I gave her my medical and diet records and she seemed impressed that I had flagged all of my diet attempts and illnesses. What can I say....I am very articulate and wanted it to be easy to read. After I spoke to Amy, Dr. Davidson came to bring me to his office and offered me a diet coke. He looked over my medical records, asked me questions, and transcribed them into a voice recorder. We decided on having my surgery in August! I need to do the 3 month doctor supervised diet and that will be completed in June. I didn't want to have the surgery in July because we are going on vacation with my stepdaughter. So August it is! I visited with him for about 20 minutes and then as I was leaving he tells me he scheduled me an appointment at Dr. Mintz's office three floors down for my sleep apnea problems and I need to go now! I thanked him, paid my co-pay and headed down to see Dr. Mintz! I was alittle surprised, but pleased. I like promptness and had the time to go, so why not! I  spoke to Julie, the dietician on my way out about my current diet and exercise program and she was very sweet and encouraging. I said goodbye and went down three floors. I entered Dr. Mintz's office and Alex hands me patient info sheets to fill out and tells me that I could see DR. Mintz's upon completion of the forms. I really liked Dr. Mintz and his assistant, Alex, they were very nice and quick! Alex took my blood pressure, temperature, and had me do three breathing tests that she entered onto a computer. Dr. Mintz asked me lots of questions, did an exam, and told me that I probably did have sleep apnea, but I must take a sleep study to be absolutely sure. He gave me a detailed explanation of what would happen at the sleep study and what would happen if I did have sleep apnea and the machine that I would need. He said they would schedule it for me on a friday night in Plano, which is a town close to my home. Then I paid my copay and left. I have so much to do!
