"So far I have only spoken to office staff. I understand his long-time receptionist up and quit suddenly and that he is having a difficult time keeping organized with temps. I was still, however, able to get through on my first attempt and get a consult date much sooner than I had expected. All I was told to bring with me was my OHIP (provincial health insurance) card and my physician's referral after having faxed it in advance.
From everything I have heard from those who have dealt with him, Dr. Yau is extremely competent and caring.

Now that I am a new post-op, I have lots more to say about him. My first impression of him was that he was affable, direct but rushed. I know that is because he likes to stay on time and not keep people waiting, which is understandable. I think he is an excellent surgeon with a friendly bedside manner. He is very insistent that I see him 1 month post-op and every three months for the first year for aftercare. I would say that his surgical competence and bedside manner are equally excellent. I give him an 8.5 out of 10."
