Two..two...surgeons to pick from!

Jul 26, 2013

I am about to undergo thighplasty, with a possible LBL  The local surgeon said I really only needed to address the thighs.

When I was shopping for surgeons, one of them told me I had the worst case of loose skin on my thighs he'd ever seen, and he was no spring chicken!

I have another consult with my local plastic surgeon, whom I was actually saving for the brachioplasty (removal of loose upper arm skin) and breast lift with augmentation.  "The Girls" have gone south..literally, and look like tube socks with tennis balls!     I'm so glad those nicely foam-padded bras came back into fashion.  If not for them, I wouldn't have a bustline.

Actually I never had those humongous "bazooms" that one would stereotypically associate with a woman who once weighed over 400 pounds.  I was a nicely filled C cup.  Now, I could wear an A cup with no problem, and maybe even have some room left over!

But...here's the good news.  I found the card of a plastic surgeon within the vicinity of  St. Vincent's, where I had my DS, who does accept my current  insurance!

So, I have a consult  on July 31st with the local guy, whom I was really saving for the top half, because he does outstanding upper body work, and another consult with the doctor I found near St. V's who takes my current insurance August  6th!

The local doctor came and spoke to our support group a while back...complete with before and after slides of some patients he's worked on. I would have to switch insurance to BCBS to get him.

I'm thinking the out-of-towner has more experience with post-bariatric reconstruction  because he's located near the hospital where I was "switched", and it is the mecca in my state for bariatric surgery, and I really would rather have one surgeon do everything!

I do have relatives there, and I don't think they'd have a problem with me staying while I heal.  If not in the same house, my uncle owns quite a few rental properties there, and I'm sure he could hook me up with an apartment of my own.

Heck, I'm planning to relocate anyway, and I have chosen that town, so it might be a great time to... as Nike says..."just do it."

The schools that I need to accomplish my goal to become a Bariatric RD are there, as well. I have even been made aware of a program that wouldn't make me a RD, but instead a certified"Nutrition Communicator" (that's what they called it) which would also utilize the degree I already have, and the skills I gained from my career in journalism.  For those who haven't read my story,  I had to leave that profession, due to Lupus and Fibromyalgia.  The long-term prednisone treatment is what helped me up over 400 pounds.

It looks like this thing is finally going to get worked out!

For those of you who pray...pray hard for this!  For those of you who "swing critters", swing lots of them!

I'm just about over the top with excitement at the possibility that *finally* this is going to happen!
