Had my Surgery 12/30/2009!

Feb 14, 2010

I haven't been on here for a while so I will give an update!  I had my DS/Sleeve on 12/30/2009!  What a way to end a great  year and better still start a new year!  I have lost 40 lbs. at this point and I must say it has not been bad at all.  I've had an unexplainable pain in my right side that started on the 2nd. night after my surgery while still in the hospital.  Sometimes it is dibilitating and I have to simply lie down.  My family Dr. diagnosed it as Irritable bowel syndrome which I suffered prior to surgery.  I also saw my gastro. Dr. and he agreed.  They put me on meds. that stop the pain so I guess thats what it is.  Aside from that and very little nausea, It's been great!  I'm yet to be able to workout because of the pain in my side and I am anxiously awaiting that!

I can honestly say that I recommend this surgery to anyone who is contemplating WLS.  I only had the first step to the DS which is the sleeve/removal of my stomach.  I have a stomach about the size of a string bean!  I think it looks so funny! When I was younger, that was my nickname to some people because I use to be so thin!  Kind of ironic that's what the Dr. said my stomach looks like now! :)

When I went in for surgery, I weighed 277 and I now weigh 237.  My goal is 160.  I am 5'10 1/2" tall so I feel that is a good weight for me.  I am looking so forward to being healthy and being able to play with my grandbabies that God has blessed me with!  Thanks for reading my blog and if there are any other WLS patients near the Dayton, Ohio area, please befriend me so we can share stories!  Have a great  night and God bless you all!
