Well, I have 2 more days at work, and then on Saturday I start my liquid diet.  Will drop my kids off with family and then go home, clean my house, catch up the laundry and get ready for next week.  I have a friend coming over to watch a movie Saturday nite to help the time pass more quickly. 
On Sunday, I will drive the 3 1/2 hours to Nashville and pick up my best friend at the airport.  She lands around 10 am.  We're just going to wing it that day.  Maybe go shopping, or to the movies.  Not sure what, but definately something to occupy my thoughts and nerves.  I do have to say how GREAT a friend she is.  She has listened to me complain about my divorce, pour out my heart about life in general, my weight, etc., etc., no matter what time day or nite.  I dont know what I would do without her help.  She is coming up from near Tampa to be with me at the hospital, and then at home to help with my 3 kids (ages 10, 3 and 2).  And all of this with her leaving her 4 children and husband at home.  God has truly blessed me with some wonderful friends and family!!!!! 

June 1st, Monday.  The first day of the rest of my life.  I'm trying to prepare myself mentally.  Just when I think I'm there, I start second guessing myself.  Then I hop on the computer and read this website.  So much helpful information all in one place.  It helps me center myself and realize that this is the BEST thing I can do for myself, hands down!!!

Had my first pre-op visit on Friday May 1st.  Had all of my questions answered and then some.  Have a date of May 20 for my pre-op labwork and meeting with nutritionist as well as pre-registration across the street at the hospital.  My surgery date is Monday June 1st.  Good to find out that my MD requires only a 2 day clear liquids only diet.  Was concerned about the 2 week long liquid diet I had heard about from others.

Now, all month to wait.  LOL

Got a phone call from the MD's office Friday morning April 10 stating they had received my approval notice from BCBS of IL the evening before.  The records had been submitted by fax just 4 days before on April 6.  They said it may be a new record for quickest approval from my insurance company.  I was SO excited!!!  MD office was closed for the Good Friday holiday, so I will contact them tomorrow to make an appointment for my initial consult with Dr. Houston.  They will give me a surgery date at that time. 
My best friend in the world has offered to come up from Florida to be with me at the hospital since I am divorced and my immediate family will be taking care of my children while I am in the hospital.  What a relief to have someone with me that can keep me laughing through my initial recovery days.  Once I return home, I will have her there for a few days before she has to get back to her family. 
I have told my mother about my decision, but not my brothers.  My family dynamic is a little different. My mother meets my enthusiasm with "Do you really think you can do this?"  "I dont know if I could do that."  "Do you know how hard its going to be after you have it done?"  What I really was wanting was some comments like "I know it will be tough, but we'll be here for you." or "That's great!  Your approval was really quick".    Oh well, thats what support groups are for----other people that understand!!!!!

Am almost to the end of my 6 month medically supervised weight loss, return to dietician on April 2, PCP on April 3.  Will submit all of my records, etc to insurance for approval.  Am hoping to be approved the first time, but realize that I may have to appeal.   Have met all the requirements for insurance, but my weight loss on the program this past 6 months has been awful. Up and down, but I have been trying very hard to get used to packing a lunch when I'm on the run at work, making a habit to slow down and actually take time to eat, cooking healthy choices.  Trying to make more life changes during this time.  Hopefully the insurance company will see that. 
Will hopefully know more in a month or so............................
