Two (and a half) Weeks Post Op
Oct 26, 2009
It's been two-plus weeks. I've lost 20 lbs since the day of surgery--I've decided to relegate myself to getting on the scale once a week. A watched pot never boils. I'm also going to take my picture once a month on the day (the 8th) of my surgery. That way I'll have a record of my progress.I've put my summer clothes in two piles: the ones that I might be able to take in/belt, and the ones that are simply fat lady clothes. I've pulled out my fall/winter clothes and will sort them the same way as I try them on to wear.
I am reminded that I had surgery with searing pain when I laugh or move in bed weirdly. Otherwise, I'm just following the food phases and TRYING to get in enough protein and water.
I bought a 3-lb. jar of Isopure Dutch Chocolate. I made up a dose according to the directions and nearly gagged. So, I came up with a possible solution--mix once scoop (about 25 grams of protein) with Carnation Instant Breakfast and milk. It went down MUCH easier and I got in one of my milk servings.
I'm still having trouble getting in all my vitamins. Too many pills! I've ordered a box of Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate chews. Here's hoping I can 'stomach' them. Not too cheap, however--$9.99 for a 30 day supply. Oh well.
Our support group topic last week was the emotional adjustments after surgery. A psychologist guided a discussion of how relationships can change--how any big change can be destabilizing. Because I've always been known as the 'fat one' of my family, I fully expect to cause some turbulence. Weight has always been a competition between me and my best friend. We live several states apart and will probably see each other next summer when a lot of pounds will have been shed. It will be very interesting. I had a psychic predict that my marriage may not survive the emotional storms ahead. Well, we'll see.
Stay tuned...
