Hi,
In November of 2004 I weighed 324 pounds when I had RNY Gastric Bypass. The surgery was an open one with a 6' incision by Dr. Dennis Halmi. It went well and recovery was pretty fast. In the next 8 months I lost 110 pounds. I rebounded 20 pounds within 6 months, but held there for 4 years before I started a slow increase in weight gain.
In 2017 I found myself at 284, and again out of control for weight gain. On top of that, I was developing authriutis. My main issues were a combination of excessive carbs from snacking, and drinking alcohol far too much. Fortunately I am not an alcoholic, as quitting alcohol was a non-issue.
Mid August I went back to Dr Halmi for a revision, this time the surgery was laproscopic, and went very smoothly. Instead of the three day hospital recovery, I left the same day in pretty good shape. Between the presurgery diet and the surgery one week ago, I am down 19 pounds, 8 of them post surgery. I am doing well, and feeling goos, again tired of the protein requirement and associated taste, but otherwise feeling good.
I will update as time goes on.
