11 DAYS!

Jul 04, 2015

I started Optifast June 20, and stopped June 23 due to the fact that I could not keep it in! Puking and diarrhea like 16 times a day. I already have chronic diarrhea and my blood sugar would be severely low, so I couldn't take it anymore. Called TWH and the nurse and dietitian decided it was best for me to stop Optifast and to be on a high protein diet. Yesterday I weighed myself and measured myself. In 11 days I have lost 17 lbs and 39 inches from head to toe. Holy crap!! My mouth dropped to the floor, and now I can't stop smiling!!! I'll be on the bench soon enough.

Leg spasms!

Feb 10, 2015

On Feb. 4, 2015 I was having legs spasms, Charlie Horses. They would start from my toes, go up my leg, stop and start again in my ribs and back. I was in so much pain! I called Telehealth that night, after having about 3 of them, that lasted about 25 minutes each. The nurse advised me to go to the nearest hospital. So we went.  I wanted answers. So we went to the emerge. Waited around for 4 hours, for them to take blood to see if I had any blood clots, turned out I didn't. They ended up giving me morphine, and about ten mins after it started working, I started having stomach pain, sweating, my eyes were the size of pin holes (what I was told), feeling nauseous and wanted to puke. I was basically overdosing.. they gave me two doses! Maybe the best route would have been to ask me what my drug tolerance was. I don't take anything. A quarter piece of a Gravol knocks me out for half the day. I have a very low tolerance. They made me sit for for hours in a wheelchair, and basically cry in pain. I would go in and out of "sleep". Even though I kept asking for Gravol, they didn't give me any for three hours. Then ended up discharging me, because the blood work came back clean. I am still feeling like crap from the morphine. Got home, went straight to be and fell asleep. Well 15 mins later, I was in the bathroom puking my guts out. Ended up having a 3 hour bath, which makes me feel better when I am sick. Went to see my GP, since the hospital didn't know what was wrong with me. She ended up telling me right away, that my legs and other parts of my body were having spasms because my Vitamin D is extremely low. I have been on liquid Vitamin D for the past 3 weeks, but just not enough time to prevent the Charlie Horses. She also told me that I was dehydrated, and the hospital should have hooked me up to an IV. I will never take Morphine ever again, and I will definitely inform all future nurses and doctors that I have a bad reaction to Morphine. Drinking Gatorade, even low the sugar content is high, I need the Electrolytes! Hopefully my Vitamin D gets to where it's supposed to be soon.

An accident that prolonged my journey!

Feb 04, 2015

Today I was headed to TWH, for my Nurse Practitioner appointment. I was so excited!!! Toronto is normally about a 35 minute drive, on a good day for us. We left 3 hours early, just cause of the snow and how early my appointment was. As soon as we got onto the 401, we see cars, massive amounts of cars. I was like WTF!! So I turned it to the Oshawa station to see what was going on. Apparently @ 10 pm the night before, a man decided to drink and drive. He was in a Jeep Rangler. He swerved into a transport truck! The transport truck the slammed into the guardrail and flipped on it side. The trucker died instantly, and the drunk driver remained alive. We had to get off the 401, and find an alternative rout. By 7am we had made it only to Brock st Whitby, and that's about 5 km from my home. We gave up. By the time we would have gotten to TWH, it would have been 11am.. way too late for my appointment which was @ 830am. As soon as the clinic opened, I called and explained everything. The lady on the phone was extremely understanding. I didn't cause this! She then proceeded to tell me that the next available date for the NP wasn't until the middle of June. I'm so heartbroken and pissed. Not only did that drunk driver kill a man, but he has caused me, my life to be basically left in the ditch for the time being. Not only has this extremely stupid man, that decided to drink and drive killed a man, decided to ruin a lot of other innocent peoples lives. I don't deserve this!

My journey has just started!

Feb 03, 2015

March 2014, I joined the gym. I had to be weighed, by a total stranger at the time, my trainer. She was very comforting! Because of my weight I couldn't see the number on the scale.. so I asked her if she could tell me. When she told me, that I weighed 462 pounds, I nearly died. My eyes literally popped out of my head, just like in those silly cartoons. I needed to do this! So I trained with my trainer for about 3 weeks, because that was all I could afford. She gave the strength, knowledge and the determination to do it on my own. It is now the beginning of February and I have lost a total of 72 pounds. I am extremely proud of myself. In the beginning of September 2014, I realized that I needed help. I know that I got to this weight on my own, but I need help, I need help in getting this weight off. I went to my GP, with the Bariatric referral forms in hand for her to fill out. She did! In November I had an orientation, information session at HRRH on November 21. I thought it had gone amazing. I then decided that it was way too far for me. I live in Oshawa, and have to take buses and trains and more buses to get to HRRH. In total it took me 3 hours one way. I called the clinic and they then sent my file to TWH. Took about 3 weeks for them to get it. On December 19, I got a pamphlet and a date. January 7, 2015. I was so excited. I had gone to the TWH orientation, and right from the start I knew this hospital was the right fit for me, and my journey.

My appointments are as followed: Social Worker January 22, 2015. Nutrition Class February 2, 2015. Nurse Practitioner February 4, 2015. Hoping the Dietitian and Psychologist are soon.
