I turned 50 in March, but I have struggled with my weight since I was 16. I am a Registered Nurse, a Mother of 5 (Kids ages 7-21) and I have been blessed with a spouse who is loving, supportive and a great Father. We have been married for almost 24 years.

Recently, we were fortunate to be able to live abroad in Southern Italy... But instead of losing weight on the healthy Mediterranean diet, I managed to gain 40 lbs in 2 years and develop high blood pressure. This brought me back to the U.S. at an all time high weight of 249. I don't regret any of those Margherita pizzas, pastas, pastries, gelato ...amazing Wine...but I knew at my age I was a set up for diabetes and cardiovascular disease as I have a strong family history. I felt overwhelmed with thought of taking off so much weight, defeated already by decades of losing and regaining weight.

What has always disturbed me is this...I have achieved most of the serious goals I have set my mind to personally and professionally. I am persistant and tough. I've completed 4 Marathons, (2 of them with a weight of over 200 lbs) I've worked night shift, survived natural child birth...

I knew it was time to get serious and take on this "final frontier". So I did. I started the WLS process in November. I was sleeved on 4/15/2014...and so far...so good! Bring it on...cause I am ready to achieve this life time goal.
