Some Progress

Oct 02, 2013

I finally got my second 'first appointment' with my surgeon set for November 8, 2013.  I did have a first appointment in early August, but because I was smoking at the time, she said I wasn't a 'candidate' for the program and she would not do anything else with me or for me until I've stopped smoking for 3 months.  Oh and don't gain any more weight, she said in parting.  I was crushed and mad at myself.  I did stop smoking immediately, but still the last two months have been very emotionally discouraging and draining.  But at the end of September I pulled myself together and started being in control again.  I went back to tracking my food, increasing my protein and eating better.  I am drinking my water and taking vitamins.  And yesterday, at my request, I was rewarded by my surgeon moving up the date of this next appointment from 11-29 to 11-08!  I feel like I'm moving forward again and am so much happier.  And I really am grateful that my surgeon takes such a hard core stand on something like the smoking because it's indicative of the safety and quality of this surgical program.
