Revision questions
Aug 25, 2016
I have been lurking for a while as I am embarrassed to admit I did most of this to myself but here goes as I really need answers and support. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2004 and lost 100 pounds but before my one year evaluation my center closed it's doors overnight and the surgeons and all other support disappeared. I did not reach goal and I gave in to an eating disorder, binge and night time eating, and through the years I have regained my weight. Now I also have bone on bone arthritis problems in both my knees so walking without pain medication is difficult.
I have seen a surgeon and had an endoscopic exam which shows my pouch is stretched out lots, an ulcer and a hiatal hernia. I also have Barretts syndrome in my esophagus. He recommends a complete reversal of my prior gastric bypass in one surgery and putting in the sleeve later in a second surgery. I am concerned about the sleeve due to my acid reflux and I like the modification to my system to help with food malabsorption.
Anyone have experience or comments about what I should do? Has anyone had their pouch made smaller as a revision and how did that work? I have spent the last 7 months in intensive outpatient treatment and therapy for my eating disorder and I am much healthier with that now and ready to lose weight. Any help appreciated.
