I have 100 pounds to lose.
My husband was banded May 17th here in Everett, WA. at NWWLS, by Dr. Michaelson.
We live less than 4 miles from the clinic.  Husband was banded and home the same day.
He has had NO problems whatsoever.
He gets his first fill June 28th.
I am waiting for my broken arm to heal and so see how he progresses with the band.
I am scared to death, not of the surgery itself---I've had 6 surgeries in the last 5 years
and know what to expect.
What I am fearful of is AFTER the band placement.
What if I "can't" do it?
What are the long-term problems?
I know it will change my life forever, but at what price?
Are PB'ing, band slippage, erosion, complications worth it?  (I've researched a lot)
The fills don't bother me, no fear of needles.

(UPDATE) 5/6/08

Observing my husband's stuggles over the past year, I started researching the sleeve.
I had a consult with Dr. Landers at Puget Sound Surgery Center.
He confirmed my fears about the band and THOROUGHLY explained the sleeve.
I had told him how much I had researched both and he only nodded.
After talking for over an hour he believed me!!!!
I guess most people say they research, but I really have.
I am all set to have this surgery that will change my life for the better.
We have BCBS and they don't pay for the sleeve....yet.
I don't think I can wait another year or two and will most likely pay the $20,000.
It's a lot of money I don't have, but will say that much in food and medical bills later
on. LOL----My justification.
I am not telling anyone about this surgery---don't want the grief.
My hubby and son know, of course.  I will pull a "Star Jones" and say
it's portion control and pilates!  At least I'll try that for a while.
