Today I have been so anxious about the consult with my surgeon. I had to take some calming meds to help me get though the day. I have to see him on Wednesday of this week. I hope I can get a surgery date this week and get this task over with. I am tired of feeling older than what I really am.

Today I had my first consult with Dr. Carter. He is the most kind and considerate surgeon I have ever met. He answered every question that I was concerned about. Also his staff are so supportive in the decisions that you make as a patient. The atmosphere in his office is very peaceful and that let's me know that I made the right decision about choosing the right surgeon. I have one more appointment with my dietitian before my paperwork can be submitted for approval for wls surgery. Also Dr. carter wants me to remain on a liquid diet to help shrink my stomach and liver for lap surgery. My next appointment is June 19 and I will get my date then. I pray that my ins will approve me without hesitating.

I am still in shock that I have a surgery date. It has been set for July 6 @ 9:15 am. I must be the second surgery for that day. I am nervous some what but I still have to have faith that my God will bring me through this journey victoriously, and complete. Also, I know that I have been called to do the Lord's work and I cannot do anything to myself to damage what God has created within me. I had all of my preop test done on friday and they were rigorous ___tests!!!!!!
I am having a hard time with the preop liquid diet. I told my husband that he needed to cook because I cheat and taste the food I cook everytime.I still have negative people around me asking me if I know what I am doing. The last time I checked, I was grown and have enough wisdom to pray. Well I say it like this, I told the Lord:"If it is meant for me to have this surgery let it come to pass;If it was not meant for me dont let it come forth. So it was approved and now it is time for my deliverance to come to pass!!!!!!! Later for now*****

Today was a good!! Feeling kind of lathargic but everything is well. I went today to stock up on my postop meds and supplements. I never thought that it would be sdo expensive. Altogether I had to have spent (roughly) $200.00. I am trying to keep my head and emotions above water and tell myself that everything will be ok. I feel like I need to take an ativan right about now. 3 more days to go before I be on the losing side. Until later...........*****

I ought to be ashamed of myself! I have not updated this profile since I had my surgery. I am 47 pounds lighter in 8 weeks. I did have my surgery on July 6 2006. I did have some complications, but I will share my experience at a later time. Thank God I made it!! To God be the Glory!!

I know I have not updated my profile in a long time, but believe me I have been throgh a roller coaster ride with my emotions. Thank God I have so far lost 62 pounds in 3 months. I did not ever think this day would come. I did have some complications from my surgery but none that were life threatening. I could not tolerate the liquid diet my surgeon put me on. I had to be put on the pureed diet 4 weeks early to stop diarhea. So after that I had to get used to dumping off of everything until I knew what I could eat. That bothered my physche really bad.
But the wonderful thing I survived the whole ordeal!! Praise God.

    Surgeon Info:
    Surgeon: Paul Carter, M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Carter was that he was very stern and to the point. But, I quickly learned that he was very caring and understanding. His office staff is very friendly and especially his wife. He emhasized aftercare like as if it would be the end of the world if you didnt follow instructions and take good care of yourself. He also explain the risk of complicaiotns with much clarity. I have not had my surgery yet, but I do believe that through God's wisdom and knowledge Dr. Carter will take good care of me during and after the surgery. I will recommend him to anyone who needs wls. P.S. Dr. Carter has a good bed side manner. He makes sure that you know what you are up against before you get into a situation.
