Kathy went home to be with the LORD

Oct 25, 2007

Hello, this is Kathy's husband Frank. Kathy went home to be with the LORD Sunday morning 10-21-07 @ 5am. The attending physician said that it was more than likely a massive blood clot. I am still waiting for the final report from the Wayne County Medical Examiner. Kathy had 2 blood clots previously so this procedure or any surgery was more of a risk for her. She leaves behind myself our son Frank III (aka Tre soon to be 18 months old) and an elderly Mother Myra(76yo)

I went to my first support group meeting at U/M today.  There were about 30 people there.  I got to meet another friend from the MI board today, Brenda.  She is sooo sweet and gave me a big hug when I told her who I was.  She invited me and my hubby out to lunch with a few other ladies after the meeting.  The meeting was run by the dietician and she was part of the lunch group after, so that will put me at more ease when I meet with her on Thursday for my diet. eval.

Talked to Shannon this week.  She had to re-schedule my psych eval for June 29 because the dr will be out of town.   AAAAAAAAAaRRRRGHHH!  At least it was only postponed a week, I guess.  My hubby and I met a 4 other ladies from the OH MI board tonight for dinner.  They were all so nice and willing to answer any questions I had.  They all had the RNY, but I'm sure most of the journey is the same for the Lap-Band.

I talked with Shannon today.  My documentation looks complete.  She scheduled my nutrition and doctor evaluations for June 14 and my psych evaluation for June 22.  I'm sooo excited!!!  I'm making some progress finally.

I had an appt. at the Med Inn (Sleep Clinic).  I have a very mild form of obstructive sleep apnea.  I didn't even stop breathing during my sleep studies.  I did come very close to stopping breathing, especially when on my back or in REM sleep.  Now I wait for the Medical Supply Co. to call me to order my CPAP.  Since I was at U/M I stopped by and spoke with Christine and gave her another copy of my records.  She said she'd have Shannon call me.

Left a message for Shannon to see what my next steps are.  Received a call back from Christine.  She doesn't know where my paperwork is!  She's sending an e-mail to Bill, the Phys. Asst., and copying Shannon.

Mailed my packet to U/M to apply to their program.

I talked with Shannon at U/M today.  I had her check the CareWeb for my U/M records to see if there was anything I was missing before I submitted my application packet.  I guess I am good to go.  I just need to send in my documentation regarding physician assisted weight loss attempts along with my form.  All my other records were accessible through CareWeb.

My Allergist told me that my Pulmonary Function Test was normal.

Wednesday, March 28, 2007
I completed my registration with RemedyMD.  My goodness!  It was 14 pages!  How am I supposed to remember how much I weighed at 10? 18? 25?  I keep trying to forget about my weight!

I had the Pulmary Function Test done at U of M today.

Monday, February 26, 2007
I saw a doctor at my PCP's office today.  She has referred me to U of M for Bariatric Surgery.  She has also referred  me for a Pulmonary Function Test, which is one of the requirements (due to my high BMI) for the U of M program.

I mailed a letter to the Beaumont Weight Control Center for copies of all my records pertaining to my weight loss attempts through them.

Saw my Hematogist today for a follow-up.  She's not quite sure why I've had my pulmary embolisms.  I had my first in 2001.  I also endured a pulmonary infarction.  I was on birth control, morbidly obese, and extremely sick in bed.  Hormones.  My second episode was July 2006, 9 1/2 weeks after the birth of my son and 2 1/2 weeks after I stopped taking blood thinners.  Hormones.  She thinks having Bariatric surgery would be my best option.

I've just been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and have to go in tomorrow night for another Sleep Study with a CPAP machine.

I had a Sleep Study done last night.  One of the worst nights of my life!

I had an Echocardiogram done today.  Everything appears to be normal.  The Cardiologist thinks I'm a great candidate for the Lap-Band.

December 2006
I've been thinking about Bariatric Surgery for several years.  I've finally realized I can't do this on my own.  I need another tool.  My first choice is to have the Lap-Band.  I'm scared about having it and scared about not having it.  I'm scared of failing.
