Growing up I was very active into sports and running around with my brothers and sisters.  I didn't start getting heavy until maybe the 10th grade. I have a twin brother and we are total opposites. He can eat anything and everything and not gain weight and I am just the opposite. I just look at the food and I gain.  I had my first and only child when I was 29 and he is the love of my life.  I wouldn't trade anything for him, he is a really good kid. I had only gained 9 pounds my whole pregnancy and he was 8 pounds 1 oz.  But after having him I lost some of the weight but then slowly started gaining it back and then some.

I know have bad knees (runs in the family) but having this extra weight on is not helpful to the knees at all. I was told about 15 years ago that I would probably need to have knee replacements but hoped it wouldn't happen until I was about 60 years of age.  I was in so much pain over the thanksgiving holiday that I went to a Orthopedic and he immedicately said knee surgery on both knees.. So there went my plans on the lap band procedure for a while.  Boy was I disappointed.  I decided to go get another opinion and this second doctor said ABSOLUTELY NOT.. that I was to young and that we were going to try everything else to eleviate the pain for hopefully the next 10 years.  He said my knees were very bad but if we can handle the pain for a while it would be best.. I was releived.. my thought right away was YES I can concentrate on my lap band surgery agian.. YES!!!  I had a cortisone shot in my knee and let me tell you What a differnce.. so if we can do this for the next 10 years that would be ok with me.

I have been throught the process of getting approved for the Lap Band by seeing the dr;s and nurses, PT, dietician and psychologist. I just need to see the dietician once more for my insurance (dec 29th is my apt) then they will send info into my insurance and hopefully all will go good and I will be approves without any problems.

I am very excited about getting the Lap Band done and very nervous at the same time.  I go on the web sites all the time and read about what to expect or how people are doing, or what complications they had.  I want to know it all so that I can prepare myself somewhat. I know that this is a life style change and I just want to be as prepared as I possible can. I do not like surprises.

My goal is to have the Lap Band done the begining of Feb.
