Laura Choi

"I found Dr. Choi to be very personable. She is friendly and makes you feel at ease. Her staff is very outgoing, yet very professional. They don't seem to forget anything. I have asked several doctors about Dr. Choi and without fail she gets rave reviews and, in fact, a couple said that if they needed surgery, she would be the surgeon they would choose. I feel very comfortable with my decision to have her perform my RNY. Once I am operated on this coming Monday (August 9, 2010), I will try to remember to update this, but so far so good. UPDATE: Almost 3 weeks post op... The surgery could not have gone better. Dr. Choi saw me before I went in and I was very calm and comfortable. She has a really amazing bedside manner. She explained what would happen, joked around a bit and made me feel ready. Everyone at the hospital thinks she is great. They use terms like "very efficient", "like a machine", "excellent surgeon". She came to see me the day after the surgery and was again very supportive. The only slight negative is that Danbury Hospital is a teaching hospital and the residents tended to be somewhat clueless. They come around in a group and check on you. One does the talking while the others observe. One tried to put me back on my oral meds for blood pressure that are huge. Much bigger than an M&M. I explained the size and he said there is no size restriction on pills. His colleague immediately corrected him, but that is the kind of thing I saw. I just ignored them and cleared things with Dr. Choi and my nurses. They were harmless students so I wasn't concerned. Post op I am doing really well and have absolutely zero problems. My cuts are very small (1/2 inch or less for 3 of them and 3/4 inch for the other 2). All are healing nicely. I would recommend Dr. Choi 110%."
