Hi everyone,


Surgery went well I arrived to hospital about 930am was in surgery at 1130am and was on my way home at 230pm and was asleep until about 7pm I was in a lot of pain stll is but I was given liquid pain medicine and it is really helping alot and Yes walking around helps alot  he broght me through this surgery I dont take nothing for granted he didnt have to do but I am so glad he did! I must tell you I am so hungry and I am tired of broth, jello,crystal light etc... Did any of you felt this way one out of surgery?

Ok just completed taking a shower with the cleanser i was given at pre admissions by Nurse Kelly she said I must take a bath with that stufftonight before bed and again tomorrow morning before arriving at the hospital at 930a did any of you have to do this? I am a bit more calm then ive been in the last days  I figured one of two things will happen I will wake with my new band or i will wake up in heaven

Ok I got the call from the surgeon office My paper was sent directly to the OR so as it stands I am all set I've been cleared to have surgery I was so relieve to hear this news because up to to that point I was still in limbo! On the day of the surgery (5/17) my mother in Law and husband will accompany to the hospital.  I must admit I am very worried, nervous and happy at the same time because I don't ever remember a time being put under ever so please keep a sister in prayer!

Morning Everyone,

Well my surgeon office have not received clearance form my PCP as of yet. I don't believe it I've been calling then guys for the past couple of days and now it seems I am getting the run around. I will just have to show up there today or tomorrow in person and act a fool. I was warned Dr. Reines could drag his ass well i picked he wrong person this time LOL. On a more positive note I've been on my liquid diet since Monday of this week Man can I say  I hate it!  If paperwork is received in time  My surgery will take palce on Monday 5/17/2010 at Noon at Memorial Regional Hospital.

Alright the time has come for me to start my liquid diet  hmmm WOW so I went out to purchase some things I will need doing this time like a blender, sugar free pudding, Greek yogurt, sugar free jello, chicken,vegetable and beef broth etc..   I know this won't be easy but I can do this if you have an suggestions or any thing you may think would be helpful to me at this time I am open to it! On another note I still have the Stress test to complete on Monday, The Preop Education to complete on Monday and The Pre-Admission Testing at the hospital.

Ok I have decided to stay with the lapband and give it a chance
So as of this past Friday I was approved by Aetna for this procedure so what's been happening since i post last hmmmm I went to my PCP on yesterday to get clearance but he decided it would be best to see for me to see cardiologist for an ECO and stress test because I was dx with a condition called Mitral valve prolapse back in 2005. I am so irritated right now but I do understand he is looking out for me but come on 2 weeks before surgery I've been running around trying to get in to have both test done, so my grand total of co payments  for this week alone is $210.00.
let me ask you guys what do I need to bring with me to the hospital I mean I will be coming back home the same day ...

well I must be honest although I'm happy about my approval for the lapband surgery I've been considering the Vertical Sleeve so guys what are you thoughts on this I am weighing the pros and cons of both but just simply not sure cuttimg 85% of my stomach removed or  band place hmmmmmm

Guess what yall I was officially approved for lap band surgery! I got the call today at 3:30p I was at home asleep and was caught off guard I was expecting the approval maybe after my last appointment with the surgeon that wasn't until this coming Monday so I am so excited, nervous and scared all at the same time. I need words of encouragement!  My surgery is set for May 17, 2010 at noon! WOW I am still in shock I needed some good news I tell you this month along has been a challenge for me financially physically and yes spiritually and to top it off I head car accident that was my fault. Keep a sista in prayer

Ok.... May 3 is the day I will be attempting to obtain a medical clearance from PCP and I also will  have my final appointment with Dr Bass. I am nervous,excited and not sure what else! I have Aetna insurance so hopefully I will be able to obtain my approval quickly I do have a surgery date already scheduled for May 17 at 12noon, on May 6 I have a Pre-op educational class and on May 10 I have my mini visit with the nutritionist. Keep me in prayer that all goes well. For those of you had surgery already I have a question I have Aetna as I mentioned before I have 80% is covered by insurance 20% is covered by myself a maximum out of pocket of $2000 my question will I have a separate bill from the anesthesiologist and Md office or how does this works?

Ok I went to the surgeon office today (second visit) I am please to share I lost 9 pounds and I haven't even had the surgery yet! I am scheduled heavy the remainder of this month and the first part of May to complete all the requirements! I was also diagnose with Hpylori so I have to take a 14 day regimen consisting of prevacid,clathyromycin and amoxicillin to treat the infection in my stomach and I also have to take vitamin d once a week for low calcium. I am encourage and remaing stead fast I've been working hard  and it will pay off. Keep me in prayer my medical bills are accumalating quickly with all the copayments,deductibles etc... but I will do my best to pay what  can if I have to make payment arrangements good and if not then what is my options LOL! My target surgery date is 5/17 at noon Sugreon Dr. Thomas Bass!
