hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read my story....Add me as a friend, i need all the support i can get!!!!! I'm a 32 year old single mom of an 11 year old son and i have been struggling with my weight for about 9 years....i went for 7 years gaining 25-35 pounds a year without really caring and just kind of brushing it off and at times going on diets that lasted a week or two. About 3 years ago it finally hit me that i really needed to do something and quick!! i started looking into gastric bypass, im a medical assistant and patients would come into my office for pre-op appointments and i started really reading into it but it scared the crap out of me, then i heard about lap band about a year ago and thats when i started my journey. i went to the information session at faulkner hospital in boston and Dr. Munn spoke about both the gastric bypass and lap band and i had my mind set on lap band...because of my insurance i had to do a 6 month class which in my opinion was the best thing thats happened because i got to know more information on the gastric bypass and eventually changed my mind....the lap band has a higher failure rate and its too easy to self-sabotage so i needed the gastric because i love food!!! well i have went and did all my pre-op stuff, just had my endoscopy 2 days ago lol. i've had some struggles, tested positive for h-pylori (ulcers) had to go on 2 different antibiotics so i had to wait for that to go away, my endoscopy showed gastritis so they took a biopsy and hopefully i didn't get my h-pylori back or my suregery scheduled for NOVEMBER 12th will be postponed!!! I was first scheduled with Dr. Munn but i got a phone call saying hes moving so i had to pick a new surgeon so i went with Dr. Tavvakohli and so far i have been very impressed by him, he was very welcoming and made me feel very comfortable and new i had been waiting a long time so got everything moving pretty quick for me....so hopefully in 6 weeks my surgery will happen!!! wish me luck!!!!!
