...and the journey begins

Apr 13, 2013

Once I made the decision to have WLS, I feel like I hit the ground running and haven't slowed down yet.  Already I've gone thru orientation and my initial consultation at the bariatric center, I've been to support groups and nutrition classes, I've connected with several people who have already had the surgery and I've gotten the low down on their personal experiences & challenges, and just this week I was at the hospital for my pre-op ultrasound & x-rays, and I had my psych evaluation.  Thankfully, all of the tests and evaluations indicate that I am a perfect candidate for the sleeve!

In a week and a half, I have to go back to the bariatric center for a TNE.  Rather than go back to the hospital for an upper-GI, my surgeon thought a better solution would be to come into her office and let someone stick a tube up my nose, down my throat, and into my stomach to check for bacteria.  Did I mention that I will be AWAKE for the entire procedure??  Oh hey there gag reflex!!  The next day, I will finally meet with m surgeon face-to-face, and have my first weigh in.

In the end, I'm hoping to be ready for surgery within 2 months of making the decision to have WLS
