2/14/10 Time to Appeal

As of Friday a week ago, I was told over the phone by my insurance company that I was approved for VSG. So I got all my labs done, etc, and was told on Tuesday that I was not approved, but in fact denied. SOOOO, I called BC/BS on Thursday and they are going to do an Administrative Review and listen to the phone calls where I was told I was approved and later denied. After that, if that fails, I will be filling my first appeal.
I am determined that this is the surgery for me, and am fully prepared to go forward with whatever it takes to get this done.

I started this process in July 2009 when I firmly decided to have WLS, but was aiming for the Lap Band. I didnt know yet what VSG was, but when I started researching Lap Band, I was a little freaked out, to say the least. Then I found this web site and learned about VSG and felt like this was absolutely perfect for me.
I went to seminar in October 2009. Just had my psych eval last week and have my meeting with a dietitian today. After those are submitted, I am just waiting for insurance to approve.
My boss is off for a cruise in February, so hoping I can take the time off then to have the surgery. I have a job where when he's gone, I dont have to work, and don't have to take vacation days, so in the end I'll only have to take 3 vacation days and get two weeks off! So let's pray for a quick approval!
