SO MEAN on before pics!!

Jul 07, 2012

Why are people SO MEAN to themselves on the before pics???  Ever notice the really critical and harsh things we say about ourselves?  I just read one that said "OMG Yuck!"....and I thought, my goodness....that person in that before pic that we were, did the best he/she could and was always attractive on the inside and that should count for something!   I also can't help but think of people who are at the "before" weight of these people (some of us after losing 100 lbs are now looking like another person's "before pic"  and how a comment like that can make us feel.  My goal in being part of this community is to inspire, uplift and encourage others and to enjoy the same.  Those comments are so sad to me...that we treat ourselves that way...we'd never talk like that about someone else.     I'd like to suggest that we consider being kinder to ourselves, and in the process, that kindness will be shared with others.

Halfway there and down 133 lbs!

Jul 03, 2012

Hello Fellow Losers!  (and I mean that in the best way!),

I'm not really active on the boards or with blogging, but I am now over half way to my goal, having lost 133 lbs!  40 was before surgery, which I had on August 15, 2011.  Thank you, Jesus!  The loss has been very slow the last few months, but I am still moving in the right direction, so I'm incredibly grateful!  I just wanted to share this, and hopefully encourage someone else on the journey, especially those with over 200 lbs to lose.  133 down and 113 left :)

Rough Spot

Sep 26, 2011

Hello all,

I've hit a rough spot emotionally/physically/mentally this past few days.  Lots of external pressure right now.  In addition, I have had an upset stomach for over one week now....to the point where I've had to stop eating and am having trouble getting my protein down (haven't been able to).  They tell me it could be a lot of things, including a potential stricture.  Please say a prayer for me.  On a good note, I've lost 5 lbs this past week.....right now I feel so bad, I'm not enjoying that as much as I normally would.

How are all of you doing?

Oh yeah, baby!

Sep 21, 2011

Hey Everyone,

I am pleased as punch (wonder where that phrase originates from??) to share with you that I lost 5 lbs last week, for a total of 60 now (since Easter, with 40 being prior to surgery).  The sense of relief I feel that this is actually working is tremendous.  Thank you, Jesus!

So how do we do this?

Sep 18, 2011

"This is how we do it"....boom, boom, boom, boom, boom....ok, so I'm hearing that rap sort of song in my mind as I type this :)    Honestly, I'm not sure how we do this.....this being lose 200+ lbs.  I haven't done this before.  I have lost 100+ before having surgery, several times.  My thought this morning is that we just take it a day at a time, a meal at a time, a protein drink at a time, a lb at a time....with maybe just 10 lb increments in mind as sub goals, and then if we do that and are faithful.....maybe one day we wake up and we're there????  It reminds me of finishing college after having gotten married and had a baby.  I took a class or 2 or 3 at a time, while working full time.  At times it was super hard and I wondered if I'd ever finish.  I had friends who questioned why I was doing all this...I got discouraged.  Ultimately, though I said to myself....I'm going to be 30 with or without my degree, and I'd sure like to be 30 with my degree.  Finally, that's what I decided, I was going to do it, hell or high water.  I probably had a little of both, by the way.   I'm 48 now, and I wonder if I ought to say something similar to myself now....I'm going to be 50 with or without this extra weight and I'd sure like to be 50 without it.   Anyone with any thoughts on this topic?
