Mary; Glad to here you have chaged your Mind & heart about the surgery. I think we all at one time or another have had to question if this was the right thing to do, Just let me say that I had surgery 11-27-01 and I was SOOOOO ready for it and I really think I got that way from this site. I read and read forever. It is the best thing I have done for myself and for my Loving Family. If you get scared e-mail me or amy one of us OK Sincerely, Donna Lee from RI

After getting a huge amount of responses to my fears I have decided to go through with the surgery. I know God will be there with me holding my hand. Thank you all for your encouraging words. God bless you.

Mary, I just read your post on the message board that you are getting scared about the surgery. I had LAP RNY on 11/02/01. I'm not kidding when I tell you that it was a piece of cake. You have made a wise choice in choosing the Lap surgery. The recovery period is so short. Tomorrow makes three months for me and I'm down 50# so far. I've had a few bumps in the road, mostly head hunger, dumped a few times, but I wouldn't trade my new life for the way it WAS. Think about why you are doing this. As far as statistics, I think the numbers are like less than 1%. Don't get me wrong, I was scared too -- had nightmares, it's a mind thing telling you that YOU are not worthy for all this. I'm starting to get compliments like you wouldn't believe. That in itself is enough to keep me encouraged. You're right behind me in your journey. Believe me, you won't be sorry. The one regret I have but can live with: I will never again be able to sit down and eat an entire huge meal at one time, like Thanksgiving dinner. BUT I am so thankful instead for all the health issues that are going away slowly. Do it! You won't be sorry. I promise.

I'm getting really scared. I am having second thoughts...almost...about having this surgery. How many people have actually died from the surgery itself?
