Okay...I had to re-edit this because it was just too lengthy! My story is about the same as most of the people on this board. I wasn't overweight until after pregnancies, and didn't become much more overweight (obese) until after that. Tried and failed numerous diets, pills, etc. over the years until I really just gave up on all of it. Even now, I look at myself and don't know how this happened, how did I let myself get this out of control? My reality check should have been in Feb 2004, when at 43 years old, I had a heart attack. I continued with my bad habits, until just recently I decided I had to do something if I wanted a healthy, long life. So here I am. I have decided on the VSG and will self-pay (my insurance only covers RNY and Lapband). I am scheduled for surgery with Dr Alvarez on 13 Nov 07.......
