Well, I am back!  I had Lab Band surgery in 2007 and needed to remove it in 2009 due to complications. I choice not to have a revision!  But I have gained 100 lbs which is about 30 more than I was originally when I qualified for lap band surgery. SO SO UPSET!  I have tried these 5 years to lose it and I am worse off.  So I am considering gastric sleeve or band.  I am so nervious and I really was dead set against either surgery.  But I really need to lose this weight. Why oh Why is this so hard?  I am just so embarrassed I am at this point. 

 

I had lap band surgery two years ago. The first year was fantastic and lost 65 lbs. I was thrilled with the results. Then found a hernia on my esophagus which I had surgery this past Nov.  The band was repositioned and is not working at all.  15 lbs on and not happy.  But the other thing is when I go to sleep at night, i burp all night and regurgitate.  Usually this would mean to tight, however I can eat anything during the day. Anyone have these issues?  We may have to unfill me to prevent choking at night. So unfair. :(

I had my second fill on Jan. 30 and what a difference this has made.  Before that, I WAS IN BANDSTER HELL.  No restriction, disappointment, hungry all the time.  I didn't know if this would work.  But since the 2nd fill, I certainly cannot eat like I did.  I will be honest- I have had PB (finally know what that is) and vomitting a little.  Basically, I cannot each chicken.  So- I am committed to watching what I eat and slowing down.  This is the test.  I also have so much energy.  I have my excitement back.  For those of you just starting out, PATIENCE is huge.

Since 12/12/07, I have not lost anymore weight and have a ravish appetite back.  I had my first fill yesterday and have no restriction what so ever and was told 2 days liquids & 2 days mushies.  Not again :{   I do think to myself if I didnt have this surgery and did the liquids and mushies I would be losing.  I am starving and just slipped a hershey's kiss in my mouth and FEEL terrible for doing it.  But liquids without restriction.  Also, I read about people getting 3 ccs for first time. I got a measly 1 cc and go back for 1 cc in a month.  At this rate, I dont think I will lose anymore weight.  I am just frustrated.  I also wish I didnt tell people.  They ask how it is going and dont understand I am not going to loose weight overnight.  I guess I will need to keep it mind too!

I feel great this week and I am a little over two weeks post op.  I lost 18 lbs and notice people looking at me.  I also had someone at the deli counter hit on me.  Yes, that felt great!  My coworkers today stood around me and said I sparkle.  

I am on stage 3 (mushies) and doing well. Although really looking forward to salad and a glass of wine soon!!  I do not know how this will work after my first fill on January 10th but I hope to have made my lifestyle changes now and stick to them for good.  

I never would imagine I would have done this.  For the friends who know, they have been supportive and I need that.  It is time for me to live my life and finally come out of my shell.  I want to go out more and meet people.  I cannot imagine what the next 18 lbs will do to me.  For now, I am happy.

I am home and so ready to start my new life!  Today is Thanksgiving, but I watched my family gorge on food over and over.  I realized how much we all have the same eating habits.  But not anymore.....I am banded and ready.  I know there will be struggles but I made a commitment and will do my best.  I could not even get down 8 oz of turkey broth, I was so full!!  Yippeeh!

Okay. So now I am very excited.  I am so close with only 25 1/2 hours left to surgery.  Please pray for me for a full and speedy recovery.  I have to take small steps or I will drive myself crazy.  But I have to admit, I cannot wait for a few months out and to see some results.  I hope I have the strenght to do all this.  But I do feel good!! 

I was scheduled for today but my surgeon has the flu.  I am now scheduled for Tues. Nov. 20th.  I had to have a polyp removed yesterday so I would have to have pushed out surgery anyway.  I am glad it is just a week.  I do not think I could have waited too much longer. 

So my surgery is 9 days away  and I really cheated on my liquid diet today...Started with a shake and had 3 slices of pizza, salad and a slice of small cake at a birthday party.  how do they expect people who eat a lot to do this liquid diet for 2 weeks preop.  What is the purpose and did I mess up my opportunity??????

My doctor's office called and asked if I would switch my surgery date to 11/13 from 11/21.  So now, I am starting liquids..day 2.  I didn't expect to be moved up.  But my journey has begun.  I am a nervous wreck...but I know this is the right decision for me.
