I've had a weight problem since I was 12-years old. Since then, I have tried losing weight through Weight Watchers, Optifast (as well as other similar diet programs), Atkins, Nutrisystem, and of course, the self-created diet in which I lived on Lean Cuisine and other low fat/calorie frozen dinners. Losing weight has never been my problem. My problem is maintaining it.

For most of my life, people have told me that the hardest part of a diet change is the first month and after that, the stomach shrinks and the constant physical hunger pains go away. I was on Atkins and Nutrisystem for over a year each, I lost over 100 lbs on each program, and the physical hunger pains were with me the whole time. Being hungry nearly 24-hours a day for over a year is enough to drive anyone crazy or at the very least, hopelessly frustrated.

First, I don't believe the stomach really "shrinks," at least not in the way people claim it does. Sure, the stomach shrinks as food moves out of it, but I don't believe it shrinks over time (as though it has a memory of what size it should be).

So, I'm done with fad diets. I'm done with any diet that centers around weight loss rather than overall health. I'm just done and hopefully, the sleeve will help me stay done.
