I have been obese my entire life. As an asthmatic, I was started on regular prednisone treatments as early as 5 years old. My exercise-induced asthma coupled with steroids and poor eating habits has led me to where I am today.
I am having significant adverse symptoms from my obesity. I have difficulty standing or doing any kind of exercise, even walking more than a short distance. I have difficulty performing daily activities and participating with my family in recreational activities. I feel that I will soon die if something drastic isn't done. I have thoughts that one morning I will wake up and my 16 year old will find that I have passed away in my sleep. My current weight also affects my energy level and self-image. Most upsettingly, being 200+ pounds over a healthy weight forces me to be more of a ‘sidelines’ kind of parent to my children – and being an active, fit mom who teaches and models a healthy relationship to food is by FAR the most important reason I want to consider gastric bypass surgery.
