I have never been the smallest girl in the room and as far back as I can remember I've always been slightly overweight.  I maintained a healthy lifestyle until 2003 when I decided to settled down and return to school to complete my bachelor's degree.  At this time, I stopped all physical activity for the most part and picked up some really bad eating habits during all of my new free time.  At some point I realized that things were possibly getting out of hand but I just closed my eyes on it all and focused on the other issues in my life.  Well, I have been focus on those issues and the new ones for the past 9 years and now I'm facing the horrible reality of what happens when you disconnect with life in that sense.  As many have done, I started trying the weight loss programs, diets, and products - WW, all natural diets, diet pills, and semi-starvation (1000 calorie diets), but none of these worked for me because they either became too complicated or too hard to maintain.  Guess what?  As a result, I ate more and started putting my blinders back on until one morning I woke up with the worse headache of my life.  I ended up in the ER and after a CT scan, some blood work, and a MRI, I was told I suffer from pseudotumors and this is related to my weight!!  A few months of digesting that information, I started looking into the weight loss surgery because I really had no where to turn to get the weight off as quickly as needed.  This all happened about 2 years ago and since then I have had some life changing events that put the surgery off but now I'm back on track and hopefully after losing 20 pounds that I gained while under going some counseling to help me with pyschological issues I needed to work out, I will be back on the surgery calendar.

I'm looking to meet some motivated people who can help keep me on track and mentally prepare me for what's to come with the bariatric surgery.  It makes a huge difference to talk with people who truly been in this position and can tell you that you can do it.  I know I can find that here because reading some of the posts before I signed up showed me that this is where I need to be.   I look forward to meeting some great people and hopefully offering some encouragement and some laughs to others as well.
