In high school, I was in track. I loved running!  I started gaiing weight just before my senior year high school 1993,  I was 150. After high school went off to college, gain weight/lost weight and by the time I graduated 1997, I was about 160. A year before I got married, I tried acupuncture for weight lost--it did not work for me:(  In the first year after we got married, I gained 20 lbs.  But I always thought I'd lose the weight some day, it just kept adding up.  We wanted to try and have a baby, I kept gaining weight.  I went to a weight lost clinic and yeah, I lost like 5 lbs and that's it in about 6 months.  We had to go to a infertility dr's office to find out why we just couldn't get pregnant on our own.  So we tried IVF, first pregnancy: twins but I only carried them to 16 wks and 16 1/2 wks.  Tried IVF a few months later, same thing got pregnant and miscarried again.  Total of 4 pregnancies and all babies miscarried. Except for one of which was born at 24 wks, we named him Jose. I went thru labor just like a full term baby, but the doctors told me he was to small to survive. When he was born, he fit in the palm of my hand.  The doctors didn't put him in an incubator or do anything for him.  Jose passed away 3 hours later. Since then, 2006 we stopped doing IVF. I'm gonna be 35 this year and I'm the only one in my entire family who doesn't have any kids.  We've been married for almost 12 years.  I think because of the weight, I have not been able to carry a baby full term.   My highest weight has been 254 and that was actually once when I was pregnant.  Last February, we went to get a second opinion on infertility and was told lose the weight would be my first step.  He said try bypass.  Curious and scared I asked my dr for a referral to see a specialist right away.  My first appt was in February.  So that's where I'm at right now.  I'm lucky that I don't have any health issues that I know of besides being overweight.  It's scary for me to have surgery done but I know its the best choice I will ever make to change my life.
