First blog post

I might as well start this thing off while I'm waiting to go through the system.

I am 7 months since my referral was sent, 2 months since I went in for my orientation session at the Guelph clinic.  On March 8th I will be going for my first set of appointments with the nurse, NUT and SW.  Been keeping a food log since about mid-january, so I'm hoping that will help me through the process a little faster, maybe cutting out a couple second visits....We'll have to wait and see.

On January 29th, I joined the gym.  I joined the GoodLife Fitness gym in Stone Road mall here in Guelph.  I am loving it so far.  I used to be a member of the Athletic Club (also in Guelph) for a year over a year ago.  Initial reason for joining was to try and lose weight for my sisters wedding, August of 2009.  Was going about 2-3 times a week, and didn't see any results.  I'll be honest, that I wasn't really pushing myself.  I didn't truly know how to use everything since I didn't get anyone to help me with learning the equiptment (couldn't afford a personal trainer, so had to do everything on my own).

This time around I hit the ground running (not literally, but I hope to be able to run soon!).  Signed up for a 3 one-hour personal training pack to start.  I have been going 4-6 days a week since joining.  I had to postpone my PT appointments a few times since I had to get a couple Drs notes before I could workout on the floor with a trainer (back injury, dizziness due to vision problems).  Basically they wanted to make sure I was ok medically to exercise.  As of now I have met with my trainer once, still have two more sessions to go.

I never would have thought I would say this, but I really enjoy working out!  And when I skip a day and don't go, I can really tell now because my body gets so tired and achy.  My body knows I need the exercise, I just need to get my brain to co-operate!

I'm hoping that exercising ahead of time will really benefit me pre and post-op.
