Six year Bandiversary!!!

Jan 29, 2016

January 22nd was my six year anniversay. I am sorry to say that I have put on 15 pounds and I am to be seen in clinic today to be evaluated for high blood pressure.

This morning I spoke to a yoga instructor and I booked a one hour consult with her for Feb. 8th. I wear a Fitbit and I average 9000 steps per day, M-Th. At work, I am tempted by the many sweets that co-workers bring in. I have started taking the stairs again in the building I work in. I hope to shed this weight by Spring.

I swear that I have a tape worm.

Oct 10, 2015

Today is a Saturday and I was expecting a friend from out of town to visit. At the last minute she had to reschedule and I am home alone. I have been binge eating almonds, yogurt, and kashi bars. ARGH! I have been tempted to visit the neighborhood ice cream shop but so far I have not. Looking for ways to self soothe.

New Format

Oct 04, 2015

With the new format, all of "my foods" and "favorites" have been erased in the Health Tracker section. That task took me hours to complete. I have used the tool in the past to log  foods as a daily journal. I am very unhappy with the new format!!!

I am finally using the crock pot I bought in November.

Feb 14, 2015

I got several recipes from my bariatric nutritionist. My Mom is staying with me and we are making Cilantro Lime Chicken. The recipe calls for tortillas to eat the chicken mixture with as well as salsa, guacamole, cheese and sour cream. I found low carb tortillas. And I am using light sour cream and cheese. We are eager to sample it. It smells great so far.

Five year bandiversary!!!

Jan 24, 2015

I cannot believe it has been five years since my surgery. I am proud of my current weight. Last month I had a fall and I developed a blood clot in my leg. Later, after I was put on blood thinners, I developed a hematoma and I had to be hospitalized and receive a blood transfusion. Consequently, I am in a lot of pain in my right leg and I am supposed to elevate it the majority of the time. Therefore, I am basically inactive. I start physical therapy on 2/5/15. I am not to return to work until 2/19/15 or later.

This month I have missed the bariatric lifestyle classes that are available through my clinic. Monday, I have an annual appt. with the PA and the health psychologist at the clinic. I will see the nutritionist next month. Over the holidays, I purchased a crockpot and I look forward to experimenting with it in the new year. If I had a choice, I would have the band surgery in a heart beat. It has allowed me to maintain a 100 pound weight loss.

My hospital no longer provides the Band.

Oct 16, 2014

In the Fall 2014 Newsletter by UW Bariatric, my surgeon, Dr. Michael Garren addresses the band. He states that nearly 40% of band patients fail to lose weight and 50% have to have the band removed after 5 years post op. This troubles me deeply because in January I will have my 5 year bandiversary. Although I have recently gained 10 lbs. I view my surgery as a success. I do not want to have my band removed. I believe that it is still a useful tool.

Losing again! Back on track.

Feb 12, 2014

I have been using the food log tool on OH.  So far, I am down 3.5 lbs.  I am choosing lower carb snacks and limiting snacks by adding more fluids.  I joined Weight Loss Buddies at dailystrength.org and I am tracking my exercise.

Tomorrow is my 4 year bandiversary!

Jan 21, 2014

I cannot believe that it has been 4 years since my Realize Band surgery.  I need to update my health tracker because I have gained 14.5 pounds since I last reported my weight.  ARGH!  I know that it is about slider foods and sweets.  Last week, my bariatric "Lifestyle" class was canceled because a pipe burst at the clinic due to freezing temps here in WI.

I miss my boyfriend very much.  I believe this leads me to overeat.  This past weekend, I was re-teaching myself to crochet and trying to learn to knit through you-tube videos.

Last February, I fell and broke my left foot.  X-rays revealed that I have a specific type of arthritis in both feet.  My job demands that I do a lot of walking but it is painful.  I tried a yoga DVD and purchased a mat, but I have only done it once. I meet with the bariatric team for my annual visit on February 3rd.  I hate to say it because I do not wish to keep gaining, but I do not know if I actually care.

Three years and two days post op

Jan 24, 2013

I blanked on my band anniversary.  I was reminded by an e-mail from OH.  I am twenty pounds away from my goal.  I have lost over 100 pounds since starting with OH.  I am no longer obese.  I still have to work the program.  I had the Realize Band.  I'd like to update my photos.  I attend monthly bariatric support group meetings at the UW East Clinic in Madison, WI.  I have a weight loss buddy through dailystrength.org.  I still miss my ex-boyfriend.  I continue to work part time.
