2 months and 10 days out

Oct 13, 2009

I went to my dr.today for a follow up appointment.  Things are going pretty good but the weight is coming off S-L-O-W!!!!  SO far I've lost 45 lbs. total, including my pre-op diet.  I wish it would come off quicker.  I'm getting all of my liquids and protein in, eating the right portions, exercising - but it must not be enough.  I'm riding my exercise bike indoors, but I'm waiting for it to cool down a bit so I can bike ride outside.  We're supposed to get a cool front come through this weekend, and it'll get down in the low 80's, so I'll bike ride then.  I've lowered my insulin big time, and I'm off 2 of my blood pressure pills.  That leaves 2 to go.  This is for life, so I guess I've got all the time in the world to get to my goal so I need to stop being impatient.  I want to lose it all yesterday!!!

6 days out

Aug 09, 2009

Okay, so I had my surgery last Monday, and so far I'm doing pretty good.  I'm getting around with no problem, and I'm feeling a little bit better every day.  The worst part for me is taking my meds.  I have to crush up my blood pressure pills and they taste awful.  I take them in the am and pm, and I dread it daily.  I also hate chewing up my Flintstones vitamins (2 per day) and my Caltrate.  I can crush my Flintstones and it makes it easier so I don't have to chomp on them, but the Caltrate is so big and it refuses to crush up, so I'm stuck chomping on them and they give me the queesies each time.  I'm pretty sure I'm not getting in all the fluids I should be, but I'm constantly working at it and know it will get easier as time goes by.  I became very dehydrated during my 2 week pre-op diet and had to go into the hospital one day early before my surgery so they could hydrate me with IV fluids prior to surgery and then continued throughout my hospital stay.  My biggest fear now is becoming dehydrated again, since after surgery your intake is so limited.  I know I'm not getting nearly what I was getting before the surgery.  Hopefully it will all fall into place and I'll start seeing some results sooner than later.  Haven't been anywhere near a scale yet, and to be honest I don't even know what I weighed my day of surgery because of the fact I went in a day early (and wasn't prepared for that!) and didn't get a chance to weigh myself, so I'm not quite sure where I started.  I do know what I weighed at the dr.s office 5 days prior to that.  In a few days I'll start weighing myself (give myself time to lose the water weight) and then I'll start keeping track.

PRE-OP

Jul 26, 2009

On day 7 of my two week pre-op diet and so far so good.  I'm not starving at all so that's all that matters.  Getting ready for the BIG DAY in 8 days!!  Elated, nervous, scared, determined, eager, fearful, giddy, thankful!!!
