Hi All!
Just an update, to let you know that absolutely nothing has changed yet. I did get my profile spruced up and I love, love, love it! It’s totally what I wanted. The virtual model actually somewhat looks like me! I would never wear that shirt though!!!(Not big on animal prints!) Anyway, I did however get a hold of my old primary physician to see if she would write me a letter regarding my past diet history and the diets we did together. I'm hoping this will qualify for my 6th month supervised diet. If not then I will need to complete the one I started with my new pcp and that means I'll have to wait until January for my surgery. Man, I really hope not. I want it now. It's horrible I'm a message board junkie! I hear all of what everyone is going through and the great success everyone is having and I want to be a loser too! I am so impatient, but I really have no choice so I will wait for my letter from my old Dr. and see if it is acceptable and then let you know what happens. Oh, and I am still 5'2 but Dr. Simpson's scale says' I'm 222lbs, not 226. So my BMI is 40.3. I'm so close it's scary. I have no co-morbidities so I am at the borderline of being approved!!! Keep me in your prayers please!!! I'll post soon after I hear anything!

Hi Anybody! Today has been a good day! I went to the seminar this morning and met Dr. Simpson and Kathleen, they are great. I bought his book and have already almost finished it. I just can't get enough info on this stuff. I have a consultation with him on Tuesday 6-14-05 at 1:00pm. He and Kathleen already answered some of the questions I had. In case anyone's curious, because I couldn't find them in the boards or other profiles.
They are as follows:
1. If my insurance requires me to follow a supervised diet for six months and I am at the BMI that barely qualifies me now (41.3, no severe co-morbilities),for the surgery and I "Do" lose weight and drop my BMI below qualifying BMI, Will I still qualify for the surgery? Or will I have to wait until the weight comes back and BMI is raised again to be re-qualified for the surgery?
*Need to clarify this-I'll get back to this after my appt.*
2. If I have previously had a psychiatric evaluation recently, Will that be good enough for the approval process or do I need an evaluation specific to the weight loss surgery?
Kathleen, said that I will need a specific evaluation.
3. Will my insurance cover payment for fills when I need them?
Kathleen says, If the insurance covers the original surgery then fills will be covered as well.
Besides the questions (I forgot to ask him), He was very informative and very personable, I believe him that he takes our lives very personal and am really looking forward to working with him. Has great sense of humor. We'll click perfect! First thing Monday morning I have to call my PCP and see if he has my letter ready to take for Tuesday's appt. Oh, yeah Dr. Simpsons After care for the Lap band is $650.00, I was worried about how I was going to pay for that being a full time student (no job, 2 toddlers!) but after the seminar my beau, Patrick said he'd put on his credit card! Isn't he great. I love him.
I'll post again after my appt on Tuesday or sooner if I get an answer to my question #1 from above!
Goodnight,
Linda
ps. I submitted my photos, so hopefully they'll be up soon!
