At a stand still for now.

Dec 26, 2009

I have decided to wait to have my surgery for a little while.  I am caring for my mother who is not going to be with us much longer so i want to help her all I can.  She suffers from a lot of health issues brought on from diabetes and they are slowly taking her life.  I do not want to go through all the suffering she has so I plan on staying with my healthy life style for now but just waiting to do surgery.  I couldn't help her and recover at the same time.  I hope that the insurance company will take all my information and hold it so  I don't have to go through stress tests, ect again.  Pray for us please.

back on track!

Nov 17, 2009

I found out today from Hurley Bariatrics that I can have my pschyc. evaluation redone and use my old MMPI2 test results!  I won't have to go through that whole test again.  My doctor can just incorporate the results from my former test with his evaluation and this will satisfy my insurance requirements.  I will meet with the doctor next week and then turn it all in.  Then the center turns everything into my insurance.  From there it takes two or three weeks for approval or denial. Pray for an approval!

support group

Oct 10, 2009

Today I attended my first support group in my town.  I was so glad to be around others with simular problems and helpful solutions.  We all seem to enjoy each others company and the group gave me a lot of advise.  I am not giving up just yet with my insurance.  I am also going to try to get information about Traverse City surgeons.  Glad I went to the meeting.

good news and bad news

Oct 09, 2009

Yeaaahhhh!!! My A1C level went from 5.7 to 5.0!!!!!  I get discouraged and then the Lord gives me good news.  I haven't been trying as hard to loose weight but still exercising but I guess my A1C showws I am not doing so bad.  But now for the bad news, I have protein in my urine for the second set of blood work.  I need to come back to see the doctor ASAP.  Has anyone had this problem? Let me know please.

once again at a stand still

Oct 07, 2009

Sorry to say I heard from Hurley Bariatrix today and I thought i was all done with everything but I am not.
I didn't get a pschyc. evaluation or MMPI 2 test done by a fully licensed Pschycologist.  He was only limited.  So I made 2 trips out of town and went through the 570 question, 4 hour test for nothing.  I am a bit disappointed but i am not going to let the devil get the best of me!  I will do this with God's help.  Anyone know of a FULLY Licensed Pschycologist in northern mich.?

Waiting for insurance approval

Oct 07, 2009

Thank the Lord I am done with my stress test, psyc. evaluation, my MMPI 2 testing, 4 yrs. of medical records sent out, and many other hoops I have jumped through.  And I don't think I am done jumping.  I just had the last of my information faxed down to Flint Hurley and they called me today with questions but I wasn't home.  I am wondering what they wanted or what I need to do in addition to what already have done.  I have Medicaid so I am sure I haven't fulfilled all my requirements.  I know I have come this far so I know I can do it all and get the surgery I have been longing for.  I have been taking my medications, walking or biking most days and watching what I eat.  Soooo, I know I am well on the way to the new me.  Did anyone have the MMPI 2 test and did you go over your results with a doctor?  Please let me know.

The ball is rolling!!

Sep 25, 2009

I have had my first visit to the Batratric center in Flint, MI.  I really like the staff there and they are all willing to help get the surgery going for you. I was given a list of what I needed to get done so they could submit it to Medicaid.  I have done all the things on the list including a stress test, MMPI test, Psych. evaluation, ect.  So now I am just waiting for the clinic to get back with me with results on the tests.  I passed the psych evaluation according to the doctor that did it.  But I am just waiting for the MMPI results to come to me or the doctor or Bariatrics.  I am so excited to get the surgery.  I am trying to loose now and walk but I sure love my food.  I will try to get back on to blog about my test results and if Medicaid requires more hoops for me to jump through.  One good thing with all my health history the surgeon was going to stress to medicaid that I really need this done.  Sooooo, pray for me that all goes well with approval and surgery.

does anyone know about medicaid requirements

Jul 23, 2009

I am wondering if anyone knows about medicaid requirements or how long it actually takes before they approve the surgery? If I have diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholestrol, high blood pressure, depression, ect. do these things help in the approval process?  Thank you, Robbie
