Holy crap I totally forgot to update this thing! It's been about 3.5 months since surgery and I'm down 65lbs. That's like a small child! Lots of things have happened since surgery aside from the weightloss. I started back at school 2 weeks ago, got a promotion at work and my confidence level increases everyday! This must be my year! I have my 6 month check up at the end of November, and the doc thought I should be down 100-125lbs by then, hopefully I don't disappoint!

The wait for surgery is over and now I look forward to the positive changes that will come! The surgery itself was no biggy. No pain, just discomfort from the gas. I have 4 small incisions that are healing nicely. I did have a problem getting my fluids in once I got home but it gets better everyday! 8 more days til I can start pureed/mechanical food!  I'm not due to go back to work til next Wednesday but  I talked to my boss and  decided that I will come in for a few hours to help out with some Admin stuff. I'm excited about that!  My follow-up is next Friday so I will post again soon after!

Today I scheduled my surgery for May 20th! I'm nervous, excited, and scared all at the same time. I lost it about 20 minutes after getting off the phone with the office, cried like a baby lol. This next month is going to be nuts!

Approved!

So today I went to Victoria for a one on one with a nutritionist because my insurance required that I do that before they would approve me. The office was BEAUTIFUL!  and everyone was super friendly, especially Vicki! On my way home, Vicki called and let me know that my insurance approved the surgery! YAHOO! The only cost so far is $3,000 up front. They are sending me some information on a loan to help cover that. I work full-time and goto school full-time so there is nooooo way I could come up with that anytime soon. I'm expecting a phone call from the office to get the surgery scheduled!

4/27/08 Update: I finally told one of my grandmas about my surgery, and she was so excited for me! She offered to pay the $3000!! I love my Nana!

The Beginnin'

Well, I'm not too sure where to start, so here it goes. My name is Sara, 21 years young(almost 22) and I have been overweight my entire life. Bariatric surgery was brought up by my doctor over a year ago, but I decided to try diet and exercise one more time. I lost about 30 pounds but gained back 45. About 3 months ago I had originally focused my research on the Lap Band, but after consults and a group meeting, lap RNY seems like the way to go. Right now, I'm patiently( cha right) waiting for Dr. McDaniel's office to get my stuff together and submit to insurance. Last week I was told they were still waiting on my Psych eval report, sooo I think I'm going to pester the girls tomorrow and see if they have received it.
