Happy 5th Birthday to ME!

Feb 09, 2011

Today I am 5 years post op and it feels so great to still be in control.  I joined weight watchers when I was 10 pounds away from reaching  my goal, so that I could become a lifetime member and go the rest of my life for free as long as I maintained my weight.  I have stayed at this weight for the last 3 years!  I go to weekly weight watcher meetings for my dose of pep talk each week.  I also still attend WLS support groups when possible (they usually meet earlier in the day and I work).  I exercise regularly and watch EVERYTHING I eat.  I write down food and exercise daily....to keep myself honest.  All I can say...is it works!  I have changed my habits that got me in the mess in the first place.  I actually find it easy now, and choose the right foods without ever even thinking "I wish I could have..."  Yes, maybe I have brainwashed myself, but if thats what it took...then so be it.  I promised my self before I had WLS that if I could only get to my goal weight I would do everything in my power to stay that way.  I had dieted many times before and lost weight, but never enough to see the change...I needed the WLS tool to help me see it through to the end.  I followed and still do, everything my surgeon told me to do, by the book.  I am a different person then I was 5 years ago....I am proud of myself, and loving life.  I will never let food change this feeling.
