Today is December 9, 2006. I thought it was time I wrote something here on my profile. I am 56 years old. My BMI is 33. I am 5'3, and weigh 180 ( by now anyway! Started out 178 but that was BEFORE the cruise ,I just got back from) 180 lbs. is being kind to myself. I am a diabetic,,,2 insulin injections a day and also 4 pills a day. I also keep on hand insulin that I follow on what they call a "sliding scale" , if your blood sugar goes to high, you have to use the quick acting insulin. I have had to use it several times. I have become insulin resisit. Cannot get it under control. My future looks bleak without getting this under control. With the Lap Band it can happen. The only thing I can do is lose weight and as most know you can not lose weight while on insulin. I carry my weight around my "belly" and all upper torso. I thought I was going to have a difficult time finding a doctor that would perform the Lap Band but I did not. After a couple of doctors office said no, I had to be 100 lbs over weight. I was led by God to find Dr.Freeman on OH. I have no doubt that it was God. I calledhis office and they sent me the papers to fill out. As I was filling them out I noticed that I would be seeing a Christian counselor. When I saw that it got me to wondering about Dr. Freeman so I went on the RNY site and read the reviews of Dr. Freeman's patient's. I cried when I saw where they Praised him and said they were at peace choosing him because he was a Christian. I mailed my papers in and got a date to go in for the meeting along with the others. While listening to the nurse speak in walks the doctor, he was so kind and said he was there to answer any question we had and as long as it took. He then said he never wanted to offend anybody but that this was such a serious decision we all would be making in our lives that if nobody minded he would like to open it up with prayer,,,,we all agreed and bowed our heads. Now how many times has that happened in a doctors office? Beautiful prayer he prayed. Now, for the rest of my story that is so awesome is I had been asking everybody to pray and that I would like for them to pray this prayer,"God, if this Lap Band is NOT for Sharon then please close the door!" Later that day in the same office building I saw my Counselor,,,,,,,spent one hour with him and then at the end just before I got up to leave he said, "Do you mind if I pray?" I said ,"Please do!" He also prays a sweet prayer but the cincher was at the end of his prayer when he said," God this is such a big decision in Sharon's life and we ask that if this Lap Band is not of you God then please close the door!" I had tears in my eyes when I raised my head,,,,,,I had to tell him why. God is so good!!!!! I went out of his office caught up with my husband and he had already agreed with the price ($13,500,,,self-pay) and was waiting for me with the nurse to settle on a date,,,,,,piece of cake! It went to smothly it had to be God.....so 1/10/07 is my date.
