FINALLY!!!

Dec 21, 2013

So, for the last 2 months since I started my pursuit of what I call happiness. It has been filled with road blocks. Road blocks such as: lab results and work. UGH!

Just a little back ground on me.

I never really struggled with my weight until after I had a child at 22. As a teen being active was no problem. I was in the marching band, a cheerleader, and on the track team. When I got pregnant, I only weighed 165lbs. I don't know what after I delivered but I gained weight like crazy. Probably because I worked 60 hours a week at a call center and well we all know what goes on there..Lots of food and sitting.

I have a co-worker who I would consider my best friend. We started researching different surgeries and then went to one of Dr. Le's seminars. After I visited with the doctor, I felt more at ease about what I was about to do.

She had her surgery on Dec. 11, 2013. So about 2 weeks before, as promised I started her preop diet with her. We cut out ALL sugars(fruit, carbs, sweet stuff and soda). I did not understand how much i was covering up with all the food I was putting in my mouth. Every emotion or fear I never wanted to deal with was hidden behind a cookie, candy bar, or hamburger. I shed a lot of tears. Taking away food= emotional trainwreck.

THEN THERE WERE LABS..

WOW! They ordered alot of labs. There were eight tubes of blood and a breathe test for H. Pylori. The blood labs were fine, it was the Breathe test I would struggle to beat the next eight weeks.

ROUND 1: H.Pylori POSITIVE

TREATMENT:

  1. Amoxicillin 1000mg twice daily: I got a yeast infection just looking at the bottle
  2.  Clarithromycin  500mg twice daily
  3. Omeprazole  20mg Once daily I wanted to DIE!! It tore my stomach and colon up.

-wait 2 weeks-

ROUND 2(retest) STILL POSITIVE?!

TREATMENT:

  1. Pylera 3 pills four times daily,, I was a little turned off by the price at first but after insurance I paid $116 of $728.
  2. Protonix: 20mg - i pill four times daily

-wait 2 more weeks-

ROUND 3: NEGATIVE!! SCORE!

Apparently H.Pylori is common and can be very difficult to kill. I had symptoms and didn't even know it. For instance for as long as I can remember, I would feel full after 5 bites or have alot of reflux. Since the Pylera, I have noticed a huge different. I no longer feel full after 5 bites and the reflux is gone.

So, My doctors office will submit my information to insurance for approval on Monday, December 23, 2013. They should have an approval by Monday, December 30, 2013.
