I am 46yrs old, diagnosed with type2 diabetes 2 years ago, have high blood pressure, depression,arthritis,started diabetic medication in Jan and want to do what ever I can to prevent myself from having to take insulin shots. I have lost a lil weight but it is a up hill battle that I have faught all my life. After 2 appeal letters and sending it to the insurance review board I was finally approved 9-2-04.
I am excited and scared at the same time. Dr. Dwayne Smith is going to do the surgery. I was very please with all the answers he provided me and his staff is wonderful. Wish me luck!

I went for my 4 month follow up on Wednesday, everything is going great, I am now down to 214 one pound away from losing a total of 100# I lost 27 pounds before surgery and 72 since surgery on 9-22-04 so I am very pleased with the results so far. I work out 4 days a week for about 45 mins a day and feel great. I fight with head hunger now and then but make it through. Like anything worth having you have to work at it!!
