Just over 3 months Post-op

Jan 25, 2010

68 Pounds and counting. For the first time since 1991, the first number on the scale when I stepped on it yesterday morning started with a 2 instead of a 3. It was a thrilling victory and I can't "weight" for the next one. I also bought two pair of Dockers the other day in the Men's department at JC Penny. (not the Big & Tall department). Life is Good!!!!!!

7 Weeks Out

Dec 07, 2009

Well it has been about seven weeks since my surgery (10/14/09). Meeting with Doc and the nutritionist next week. I am pleased to report that I am down a total of 39 pounds since surgery and 56 since the very beginning. Everything is progressing fine. I have still not experienced a hunger pang of any kind. I have no idea why, but I am so happy with the progress I have made thus far.

My wife bought me a new UK jacket to wear. The best part was that it wasn't a XXL or XXXL like normal, but rather it was an XL. Its under the tree and I get to start enjoing it at christmas. (hope it still fits. Could to too big by that time! :) )  Just checking in with anyone whose interested.

Tomorrow's My 2nd Birthday

Oct 13, 2009

Just got back from Georgetown. Had to get typed and matched for my blood. (Just in Case). I am learning that Crystal Light is going to be my new BFF, at least in the world of soda replacement. I am very excited and of course quite nervous.

I suspect everything will go just fine and I will begin my journey in earnest tomorrow. For all my friends, keep my in your thoughts tomorrow. I will write again soon.

2 Weeks and Counting

Oct 01, 2009

Well it's just under two weeks and counting. I so very excited and still alittle nervous. Just for fun today. I made a post surgical breakfast. I had a one egg omelet with 2 oz. of diced ham a a quarter cup of shredded cheddar cheese. according to the nutritional labels it totaled 333 calories, 21g fat, 3g of carbs and 18g of Protein.

I cooked it in PAM in a small sautee skillet. it looked about the size of a hard taco shell. It was very good and I tried very hard to make it take 20 minutes to eat it. That was not easy though. since we are only supposed to have 25 g of fat a day. I am going to have to find a different ham and a different cheese to use since that was 16g of the 21 total.

Trying to find a way to my former self

Apr 23, 2009

I can't really explain it, but sometimes I feel like I am making zero progress. I have no surgery scheduled yet as I am working on the 6 month physician supervised diet. (Humana's requirement) Some days I want to have the surgery and then some days, I don't feel like I should do it. Help
