My Journey has STARTED!!!

Jan 21, 2012

On Monday, January 16th 2012, my journey officially began!!!!!  I had my WLS consult with the surgeon.  Everything went well and I even was scheduled a tentative date for my  VSG surgery as Feb 27th ( so excited!!! ). I could have even had it done as early as by the end of this month, but I figured I would need some time to prepare as for as work and family, not to mention the fact that my BF is completly against it, but oh well, he'll get over it. My insurance does cover the surgery, but only 50% which is better than not at all, and only had a requirement of a BMI >40, so waiting to hear back from them now.  My surgeons only request is that I have my PCP medically clear me for surgery before my pre-op appt and I  have to pay my surgeon fees up front though, about $5400.00,  and have my insurance co. reimburse me, thank God  I participated in the FSA program.  Even though I'm excited, my anxiety was getting the best of me.  I feel like this is so surreal and because of how bad I want it, I was worried that something with the process wouldn't work out.  However, I prayed about it and decided I would let God handle it for me and that has helped because I feel like you shouldn't worry about something you've turned over to God to take care of. On the other hand,  I'm now nervous about protein after surgery ( will I be able to get enough in and what kind I shoud get) and what all I should purchase before the surgery, don't have a lot of money, but want to be as prepared as possible. Also, my surgeon does not really require a pre-op diet, but I think I may try a low cab, low- cal or clear liquid one the week before surgery to prepare me for post-op. Well enough of my blabbering, I'll be sure to update you guys once I hear something from either insurance or the surgeon's office. Oh, my official consult weight is 328 lbs.
