About me. My name is Sarah Wilson and I have now matched my heaviest weight of 250 at the age of 33. I am happily married to the most amazing man who loves me even at my large size but is concerned for my health so is very supportive of having this surgery. I have always struggled with my weight thru junion high and since graduating from high school 15 years ago. LUCKILY, I managed to slim down and made the dance team my freshman year of high school and stayed skinny due to the 3 hours of dancing that we did day in and day out. I was part of the popular crowd and had tons of friends. It wasn't until the end of my senior year when dancing was pretty much over that the weigh reappeared. I loved the way I felt when I was thin and all the cute clothes I could wear and more importantly, all that I could do and how much energy I had. I MISS THAT! My 15 year reunion is next weekend and I am going due to reconnecting with so many friends through Facebook. But I am scared. I have gained 85lbs since the last time alot of these people have seen me. The thing that is even making me go is that I KNOW I am not the only one and I know of others who have also gained alot and are struggling like I am.
I have already met with the surgeon who will be doing my surgery and have total confidence in him. So far, no complications out of hundreds of bypass surgeries. I have met with his team and have been told that my insurance company (United) requires 6 months of continous dietaty evaluation (weight and bp) as well as all the test that you all have to go thru.
Monday morning I went to Memorial Hermann here in Houston to have my echo, gallbladder sonogram and upper GI done. The 1st two were a breeze but boy that barium was really horrible. Luckily my bowels we moving quickly so I didn't have to stay any longer than necessary which was good since I had been at the hospital since 8am and it was now 1pm and I was STARVING!!! Hubby and I went out for Tex-Mex afterwards and when I got home I felt miserable from the barium. I ended up sleeping on the couch for 3 hours. That evening I was scheduled for my stupid sleep study and had no idea just how horrible it would be. First of all, it was just me and the technician who was a man. That was weird. Trying to sleep with all those wires everywhere and that stupid clamp on my finger, glue in my hair, ect was horrible. I hardly slept at all but did sleep long enough for him to think that I dont have sleep apnea...which I pretty much already knew.
The next morning I was supposed to go to the dr's office for my psych eval and nutritional appt. There was no way I could have stayed up for that. I called and left a message and then slept 1/2 of tuesday away.
