I am 32 years old and have hit absolute ROCK BOTTOM when it comes to my weight issues. I finally admitted that it is the one thing in my life that prevents me from smiling all the time. I have a wonderful husband and the most beautiful 2 year old little boy. They need me and I need to be here for them. I don't want to die young! I have always been incredibly "healthy" in spite of my weight. No high blood pressure, no diabetes, no high cholesterol......but I am over 30 now and I know that it is about to catch up with me and bite me in the ass HARD! I have been on every diet, pill, shake, plan in existence and Lap-Band surgery is my last hope at conquering this demon. I would love to hear from others who have won or even lost this battle after surgery, I need all the information and support I can get. My insurance has specific exclusions for WLS so I am paying this out of pocket. I think the only advantage to that is less time to wait until surgery. Wish me luck!

Made an appointment for consultation with Dr. Hauseman at MISI. I go to see him on 08/02/06.

Called my cousin who had WLS and he was an awesome support to contact. He is going to meet me at the local support meeting for MISI, they did his surgery also.

I am spending hours a day on the Internet researching this HUGE step I am about to take. I am stoked and ready to get on with this. I hope I don't have to wait long between consult date and surgery date. I know there are lots of tests and such but I am very anxious.

I saw the surgeon today and I really liked him. He gave me and my husband a lot of information and was very happy that I brought the hubby with me. The only thing that I didn't like was that it seemed as though he was "pushing" RNY when I have decided that I want the Lap Band. He did say it was my decision, but it was just a tad annoying. My surgery date is 08/28/06 and I got my labs done today. I will call tomorrow to schedule sleep study and pysh eval and then all I have to do is wait! I am very excited but also nervous as all hell! I just keep telling myself that I know I can do this and I have to succeed because it my LAST HOPE!

Well, I guess I have been slacking on updating my profile. I was banded on 08/21/06 and don't want to ever look back. At 9 days post op I had lost 20 pounds. I have gained a little of that back but it's mostly fluid and I just hit 6 weeks on 09/25. I am getting my first fill today and I joined Curves yesterday. I am hoping to drop at least 10 pounds per month with this magic combo! I will post again soon.
