1 month post op

Oct 28, 2012

It has been 4 weeks and 2 days.  I am down 26lbs.  Most of it was lost in the first two weeks.  The last two weeks I have lost 2 lbs a week.  I have been trying to eat more and drink more water.  I see the scale move the most when I get over 800 calories a day.

I went to a Halloween party as a Officer Ivana Bribe.. and felt kind of sexy.  Cool, huh?

3 weeks down and 24 lbs down.  Now that I can have real meat, like tuna, chicken and fish things are getting easier as far as eating.  I was getting a bit tired of soups.

Still no problems or complications.  Overall I feel a bit tired, but I have felt that way for over a year.  I just don't have the energy I used to.  Hopefully when my body weight is normal and everything settles in I'll have the energy I used to.

Under 30 BMI

Oct 11, 2012

It happened much quicker than I expected.  At 13 days post op I have lost 20 lbs, which puts me at 208 lbs and my BMI is now under 30.  I am no longer obese.  :)

11 days post op

Oct 09, 2012

Daughter visit went well and I kept to planned foods.

I took in 1000 calories yesterday which is WAY more than a lot of people 11 days post op.  I went on two walks yesterday that equals to about 400 calories burned... so I feel like it is okay.

The scales said 211 lbs this morning.  That is another 3 lbs in one day.  Crazy fast.  I still don't see how this is possible.

10 days post op - doing great

Oct 07, 2012

I took my stitches out myself yesterday.  It was pretty easy and only a couple of them stung.  The actual incision sites look WAY better than the rash and bumps around them caused by the tape.  I seem to be allergic to every bandaid sold at Walgreens Pharmacy.

I weighed in this morning at 214, which is 14lbs less than 8 days ago.  I weighed myself on my scale at home two days after surgery and was 228.  The number astounds me.  If it takes 3,500 calories to burn 1 lbs of fat, then this can't be maintained.  I'll chalk most of it up to water weight.  But it is 14 lbs that I'll never see again anyway.  And I can't blame the next 14 lbs on water weight again. :)  I have to steel myself mentally against the inevitable slow down and not get too used to it just melting off.  I don't want to have a week where I lose 2 lbs and say "ONLY 2?"  2 lbs is 2 lbs.  Good riddance.. good bye. :)

I walked on the treadmill for 40 minutes today.  Average 2.6 mph with 2.5% incline.  I am satisfied with that since I am only 10 days post op.

Off to see my daugher today.  It'll be the first outing where I will have to take food and I won't have my blender available to me.  The plan is to stop and get fat free milk when I am ready for lunch and mix with my protein shake.

6 days post op

Oct 03, 2012

I had surgery nearly a week ago and I am feeling great.  The RNY so far has been a way easier surgery for me than the lapband or the VSG.   I suffered pretty bad heart burn and acid stomach with the band and VSG.

Day 2-3 I was only able to get in a couple of hundred calories.  I had a protein shake for the first time at the end of Day 4 with no problems whatsoever and managed to get my calorie count to 400.

Yesterday I  managed to get in over 60g of protein and ~500 calories and I walked 2.5 miles.  My tummy was a little bit sore for the rest of the day after the walk..so I will call that overdoing it.

Today, I am trying for 600-700 calories with 60-70g protein.

I had actually gained 5 lbs between when I left for vacation and I weighed myself on day 2, 3 and 4.  I will fess up to a few splurge meals while on vacation in Hawaii, but once I started my pre-op diet 5 days before hand, I was very good about sticking to dr's orders.  But of course I was disappointed that I weighed more after 10 days of nothing but liquids!!

The scale was kinder this morning with being down 6 lbs from my highest weight (this time) and down 2 lbs from when I left from vacation.
