My story begins with my mother.  Her and my dad were and are blue collar workers.  When I was growing up she was a CNA and worked long hours.  So she was tired all of the time.  We ate processed foods and ate alot of fast food.  There is actually a place in Billings, MT that has something called a pizza burger.  We had that alot.  So its no wonder that my family was all overweight.  I grew up that way.  I became a single mom at 19 and as soon as my son was born I developed polycystic ovarian syndrome.  Of course back then there was no name for it.  So when my new husband and I started to try to have a baby it never worked.  He went into the army and I had several dr's tell me of the diagnosis.  They told me it was the reason for my rapid weight gain after my son was born.  I gained 80 lbs. in six months.  I've since gained an extra 20 lbs.  My husband and I decided our best bet was to do IVF in order to have more kids.  (if it doesn't work, we'll adopt)  The fertility dr in ft lewis said he would not help us until i lose some substatial weight.  So I went to my pcp and he put in referal for the nutritionist and also to mabye talk to the on post surgeon about gastric bypass.  I was hesitant about this sugeon because he did the surgery on a friend and she was in and out of the hospital with complications from surgery and she lost alot of hair and her skin would go between gray and yellow.  She had to have additional surgery to repair the damage the surgeon did.  But I went anyways to meet him as I was curious.  According to him he only treated people that could no longer walk and breathe on their own.  He said I wasnt sick enough even though my medical history included high blood pressure, sleep apnea, infertility, blah, blah, blah.  Needless to say I did not have the surgery.  So we ended up in Fairbanks, AK.   My new pcp suggested the surgery and told me tricare would pay for the surgery, travel back and forth to Anchorage, any and all out of pocket costs.  They even fly my mom up from WA.  There are no surgeons here in Fairbanks that can do the surgery so I have to go to Anchorage.  I've met my fabulous dr and I feel confident that he can help me.   Anyway thats my story in a nut shell.  I like to ramble just a little bit.
