8/16/02 - Hi Steph! I just saw Kathy in chat ... I am SO GLAD! I have been waiting to hear how you are and how you did! I didn't know your last name so I didn't know where to "find you"! I am so happy for your and I am so happy you are progressing beautifully! Can't wait until you are able to get on PC and chat! LOL You take very good care of yourself and bright blessings always! Angel Kathy reporting: Well, I spent a couple of hours with Steph today. She is still sore and uncomfortable. She really wanted her catheter out. Because Dr. Simpson's wife had her surgery today, he didn't get to the hospital until about 2:30pm. He took the dressing off her incision - it looked great. He told her he would order the catheter to come out and some clear liquids other than water and ice chips. She got up to walk before I got there and the nurse assistant forgot to unhook her catheter, so it caused her some real discomfort. Kim Burch came to visit while I was there and she insisted Steph get up and walk - NOW. She did very good. Steph also has a neighbor who had some very noisy visitors today - I finally had to ask the nurse to say something. Steph was sleeping when I snuck out and her hubby and the boys were on there way in. April Allen also came by to visit Steph today. Kathy

Angel Kathy reporting here - Just got home from the hospital and witnessing a car accident and I thought I would bring you up to date with how Steph is doing. She got out of surgery around 12:40pm - Dr. Simpson said everything went well. Bill and I waited until 2:20pm when she was finally wheeled into her room 716B. She was very sore and uncomfortable. She did say it didn't hurt as bad as she had expected though. I have to tell you that what I have seen of the nurses while there, didn't leave a good impression on me. In fact, Steph said she was nervous to stay the night by herself. Dr. Simpson re-assured her she would be ok. He did make her get up and walk - she did wonderful. Getting in and out of bed was the worst, of course. She moves slow, but she is moving and that's all that matters. Dr. Simpson even talked to Steph's mom on the phone long distance to re-assure her everything was ok. Bill and I left around 6:15pm and she did have one other visitor and then she was going to rest for the night. She is hoping to get the catheter out in the morning. I am so very proud of her and how well she is doing. Her husband is a great man and takes very good care of her - even when she is crabby.
